This week's RLW magazine reports that Potter is likely to be re-signed after a strong start to the season. It also noted that Payten and Kidwell have played an integral role in the strong start.

He seems to have made his steps right, an air of confidence in himself and the players. If he isnt re-signed, then no coach is good enough for the west tigers.

Why wait sign Potter long term and his assistances as well.

The culture in the club at the moment is sky high.

Finally the Sheen's "boys club" is gone.

Interesting what happens to Moltzen's contact

I would prefer to wait as well. If its him he would be crazy to move as he would know that success is sustainable and hence he would want to benefit from that success.

I don't have a strong opinion though. From my seat in the grandstand it is hard to see who is responsible for the improvement in the team.

Farah seems more settled and focused on his role - him or coach? Both?
Aggression has increased dramatically - Taupau and Gavet influence or Kidwell, or Potter, or Roach? Perhaps a combination
Team being steared around the park better… Brooks vs Benji, or Anasta stepping up, Assistants or Potter?

I trust that Mayer will consult with those who actually have the info that will enable him to make a good decision.

Seeing us take the Cows up the middle and it being successful last week was the one of the few times I was inclined to believe he has a head for strategy. My guess is our 20's coach has a head for strategy.

I'd still wait another month or so. We've had good starts to seasons before only to then fall away. Its hard to judge him with Robbie and Teddy both out but if we do well during this period re-sign him straight away. If we struggle wait another month or two and see how we re-act _if_ we lose a few…

With key players such as Farah and Tedesco on the sidelines, along with the likes of Sirro, Halatau and Sue, the next month will be a big test. What I do like though is the structure which we are playing to this year. Whilst our ability to score points may be limited over the next month, I think if the players continue to put in each week and defend to the best of their ability, we'll certainly be competitive and win another couple of games.

I'm liking Potter's vision though, he has identified our strengths and the players are responding well.

So he should be re-signed, the people bagging him after last season were off their heads, he needed at least another season or two before he could be judged.

Last season he inherited a patch-work team full of injuries, I couldn't believe the flak he copped, no coach could have done any better with the players we had missing for extended periods.

I would wait until at least round 20 before offering Mick an extension on his contract.

Waiting till then gives us a real good look at how the team have performed, and if they continue to perform like they have so far then it’s a fait complete.

Also by resigning Mick in round 20, it would give the club a kick on for the remaining 6 rounds of 2014….something we may just need to get into the finals...

I would reward Mick with another 2 years...no need for long term contracts anymore!

Sounds like you are looking for any reason NOT to give Potter the credit….

Mick is the Head Coach in 2014 he has HIS team of assistants working for him...therefore Potter should get ALL the credit for success just like he would for failure. :sign:

I dont understand those calling for us to wait… to see how how he can get the team to react to adversity? Were you not around last year, lol, that stone faced SOB has well paid those dues, and its time we repay him in kind.

Waiting for round 20, you cannot be serious. You don't think that other clubs both here and overseas won't be chasing him if we continue to do well. He needs and deserves to be signed up ASAP.

I respect Coach Potter ,he came to the club last season knowing he was going to get bashed by all and sundry and he did it for a pittance ,the media trashed him some players did the same and left. The culture at the club was crap and most players were under performing enter Mick Potter …new structure ..new assistant coaches ...new players ...new vision..new culture and to be honest all of this on a relatively short time. A team that is playing direct and a tough brand of football get this signature soon as I am sure others are noticing.

Agreed….credit where credit in due. Mick is head coach. Buck starts and stops with him

What's the go with crediting the 20's coach? Let's add the Physio and the cleaner and the groundskeeper and the ticket taker but not the head coach!!
