Interesting to me ...

-TDS captain, must have showed a lot of leadership potential in pre-season & camp;
-Noah Johannssen, ahead of other fringe props like Vaka Aho & Herman Tofaeono;
-Tino Tavana, must be an awesome trainer as I saw some woeful fullback defence from him last season in Cup;
-Max Liles, ahead of Eiden Ackland, Iverson Matai, Kurt Falls;
-Sione on the edge!

I'd say some pre-season training effort is being rewarded with some!

May as well use his one good ability.

Fullback play could be...interesting...in this one.

Experimenting with Sione on an edge is fantastic. I suggested this month's ago once I saw how fast he was chasing an intercept. If he can defend on an edge, which is a big if, he would be a huge weapon with his footwork and offloading ability.

I don't see why his defence will be any worse for being on an edge. As long as nobody trys to play hero-ball out wide & they maintain their shape- he should be ok in line.

His ability to break the line & pass could be very interesting.

I think this is the result of having so many young players on the cusp now.

With our better additions in signings, guys that were forced to play last season (Faataape, for example) become solid depth. So when we trot out our "2's", the depth almost looks like last year's starting squad.

Suggests that injuries might not have as big an impact if/when they occur. I think it's all very positive.

What's the point of this trial? It's not a first grade trial, so why pretend that it is?

If we win by 50 it means nothing.
If we lose by 50 it still means nothing.

What's the point of this trial? It's not a first grade trial, so why pretend that it is?

Basically an opposed session against different faces and playing styles with an opportunity to get back into game day routine and preparation.
