ANOTHER twist in the Scott Prince saga came last night, with his deal with Hull FC apparently falling through.
However, do not expect the Gold Coast Titans to keep their halfback and captain.
Twitter was swamped with reports Prince had turned his back on a move to England and was instead eyeing a move to a rival NRL club.
There was even suggestions the Brisbane Broncos are interested. However, the Broncos have repeatedly stated they would back halves Peter Wallace and Corey Norman for 2013, and it would be completely against type for them to plump on a halfback with one to two years left in the game.
Earlier, it emerged the Titans had made an audacious play to lure highly rated Raiders halfback Sam Williams from Canberra to replace Prince.
The Titans maintain Prince is yet to decide his future but the club begins pre-season training on Monday and needs the saga to be sorted out before then.
Prince is on the verge of signing a three-year deal with English Super League outfit Hull FC, a year before his Titans contract expires.
**The Titans have been in a scramble to replace their veteran halfback and have been targeting Williams and Wests Tiger Jacob Miller, another of Hull's targets.\
\
But Miller's future at the Tigers has been all but sealed with new coach Mick Potter reluctant to release the promising youngster.**
Williams featured in 15 NRL matches this year, forming a slick combination with Josh McCrone that took the Raiders to the finals. But the Raiders have no shortage of playmaking prospects.
If Williams were to link with the Titans, it would at least give them a genuine NRL-quality halfback.
The club has come under fire for its willingness to release Prince with chief executive David May copping criticism on radio yesterday.
English media yesterday reported Hull FC was seeking a decision from Prince immediately and was expecting to know of the 32-year-old's plans by today.
It is understood the Titans and Prince's management have been negotiating a severance package before a deal can be reached.
Williams' manager Paul Sutton told The Courier-Mail last week that the Titans had not inquired about his client and he understood they were not interested.
