Rothfield Tips the Tigers To Come 10th in 2010

I have to admit to agreeing with Bug on this. Tim Moltzen has to be our halfback or we will struggle to have an organised attack - we can't wait 12 rounds to create a new combination, no matter how good Lui will be _eventually_.

It may be that Tim Moltzen is the best halfback AND the best fullback in the club, I don't doubt that. And that has to be the result of ridiculously bad planning. I mean, that on earth is Hodgo doing tonking around in the ESL winning awards and leading his club to its best year in living memory, while we still haven't settled on a fullback to replace him?

With Timmy we have an effective running and passing halfback with a deadly good combination with Benji. All our backline attack and some of our forward attack will come off them. Beau Ryan should make a competent fullback, if given the job, or we can settle on Mullaney or Lazarus or whoever from the ranks. If Mullaney can kick goals, all the better - we lost several games last year on goals.

I always like to look at what the market & ( AVERAGE PUNTER) thinks…..for the minor premeirship, they have us just making the 8 just......
PARRAMATTA EELS 5.50
BULLDOGS 6.50
GOLD COAST TITANS 7.50
ST GEORGE-ILLAWARRA 7.50
MELBOURNE STORM 9.00
MANLY SEA EAGLES 13.00
SOUTH SYDNEY 13.00
**WESTS TIGERS 13.00**

PENRITH PANTHERS 21.00
BRISBANE BRONCOS 26.00
NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS 26.00
NORTH QLD COWBOYS 34.00
SYDNEY ROOSTERS 34.00
CANBERRA RAIDERS 41.00
NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS 41.00
CRONULLA SHARKS 41.00

I must admit, I like what I saw from the Roosters , with the sharpness of Pearce & Carney….$34 to 1 to make the 8, all trying to impress a new tough coach.

This comp is getting tougher & tougher to pick as every year goes by.....Phil could be on the money at 10th or so, or we could finish 4th or so, as it seem to be the buzz on here before last Sunday's game.

See the thing with Robert Lui I've noticed is that his footwork style is very similar to Benji's - he likes to step and goose-step..
I noticed in the foundation cup he tried to do it a few times but I feel he is held back by doing it instinctively because Benji is right along side him and something inside him tells him not to do it to 'copy' Benj, therefore it makes him look unsure and hesitant ie. confusing himself to just take the ball and run straight.

Moltzen must be at 7\. It's a no brainer. He is the guy who was in the 7 when we won 7 straight.

I said Tim Moltzen should be at 7, and Robert Lui has to go, on another forum in here, and got totally blasted for it.

It makes me feel better to read that people here agree with me. It's the easiest way for us to play our best football. We dont need to make it tough on ourselves this season, we have a good team, play every one player, where they play the best, and we make it. Simple.

Injuries and origin come in to the equation, but i feel comfortable with the depth we have got. Sheens and co have done well in this regard.

Moltzen and Marshall - that combination should be making tigers supporters wet, given what we saw last year in the back half of the season.

1,6,7,9\. They are the key positions.

Mullaney, Marshal, Moltzen, Farah. Thats how i would have them line up.

Mullaney plays beyond his years, and is in the same vein as Brett Hodgson - aka - brilliant.

Really? Blasted for it?
Mate most people on here have been screaming about this since Sheens promoted Lui last year. That claim is in the majority.

I agree 100% with Rothfield, you can't deny that all the things he mentions make sense and are real concerns. I like how he's not afraid to say he's not a big fan of Benji like everyone else is, which is something he and i share unfortunately.

Excellent Post !!

Thanks Balmain Bug.

Dont you think its funny that our recruitment has been better than ever, and nearly all media outlets are excited about our prospects, and the football we will be playing, yet alcoholic noobs like Rothfield think we are going backwards and the sharks are going forwards?

I doubt anyone can read into his predictions for 2010 without questioning his credibility.

If i remember correctly he also tipped the cowboys to beat the tigers 30+ in 2005 GF.. Enough said.
