I don’t think Maka has paid the price. I think he’s having his transition into grade managed. Good on Benji for doing it. I’d bet money the one on one conversation between Benji and Maka was delivered with the right messaging so Maka’s confidence isn’t shot.
Won’t be surprised if he’s back in first grade in a few weeks.

Heino is the guy for players welfare and support apparently... I think he will take Big Mac to the pub

AD isn't a half back period, I have always said he needs to be in the team.

Luai hasn't been allowed to play his natural game since he arrived.

Judge him after he plays with a proper half back....

Good call Herbert doesn't deserve to be dropped over Toa

Herbert went for that intercept twice, we were lucky in one occasion as the pass was called forward that stopped a try.

Well for a start Luai is a 5/8 not a half back.

I would not agree it's the best combination but id definitely take a AD 5/8 Madden half back combo over a Luai and AD combo.

He's done nothing to get hooked, but we know Benji likes Toa, they are both from the same town in NZ.

I think you might be confused T2, Herbert is from Whakatane, the same town as Benji, whilst Toa is from Auckland.

Watch the last game again he was bad.
He had to be dropped. Toa is our second best centre I’m hardly confident in him tbh but it’s the right call. When fit last year he was on fire after injury he was bad. Fingers crossed he regains form.

I don’t think Tino is fit but I agree.

Either Luai & AD will find a way to play together, or Jock will eventually get the 7 gig. Hopefully sooner than later.

I dont think you can run a bench with Latu and Madden. They both cover the same spot.

Truth be said, as a bench player, Latu probably offers a bit more as hes a bit more dynamic, however it would be hard to drop Jock all together. Really tough call around.

I think, or would hope, that the Doueihi - Luai have been told they are skating on thin ice. AND will be thoroughly scrutinized who is causing the Clunkiness if in fact it is clunky?
I hope it will improve; but not confident at all.

It's a possibility.
We can only assume Benji is in a better position to make the best call.
Turning a running 6 into a managerial 7 has stuffed a few coaches before Benji.

Does the independent doctor step in and the ref undergo same HIA protocols as players ?
Plus if the ref can't complete the game, does he also have same protocols for missing the next week the same as the players ?

Herbert was originally from Whakatane, like Marshall. Herbert moved as a child to Auckland where he lived on the same street as Toa.

Apologies if I repeat some of the same ideas already mentioned in this thread but I didn't have time to wade through all the pages!
I'm surprised and find it hard to understand some of Benji's selections. Firstly, why Toa? His form has been very ordinary in Cup and he probably isn't match fit which was not helped by the Magpies' bye last week. Also, I think Herbert has played well. Next, why drop Latu? He's been solid off the bench and needs reps in NRL after all the injury interruptions. Also, he's a strong, physical defender, which you need against the Raiders. All I can think, is that Benji wants him to play more minutes in Cup. But then why Hope? Can't Madden play there? Resting Api? However, the biggest question I have is in the halves. People have different views here but I really thought Madden had to come in at 7. The Tigers couldn't score in the red zone last week because of a lack of cohesion and depth in attack. Jock digs deep into the line and straightens the attack rather than running sideways. He also seems to get the forwards running better lines and adds an excellent kicking game. Blind Freddy can see all that that. Anyway, we shall see. Go Tigers!
