Royce back

An assistant is there to do as told.

I like to bag Royce but the word when he left was that he stopped Sheens from making some of the more radical ideas he had become reality. IMHO Royce will never be a head coach of any note but he can be effective if given the right role and he does get along with the players and is an actual character which can be of real use.

Am I jumping for joy? No. But it is about implementing the systems Mick Potter wants and if he is appointed he has the opportunity to prove he is the man for the job. If he doesn't he can be moved on

We might be surprised and royce may have learnt some new tricks whilst away.
As smeg said, he's there to do as he is told and his input will be limited to whatever extent potter allows.

If I were to speculate I think Grant Jones may take on a role as Todds assistant in the NYC next season

Message to Simmons … No one wants you at our club !! Do you understand.

he is no where near as bad as you guys make out. He is also very likable and that is a good chjaracteristic in an assistant, they can often play good cop after the coach makes a tough decision.

I dont think he is an awesome coach, but think as an assistant he is very servicable.

Like most aspects with the team over the off season and even into nextyear there is going to be a lot of "wait and see" as to how players and staff perform under a new head coach.

Ive never heard the, players say anything bad about him, or any negative press other then what the fans toss up on here. Give the guy a break

If you think Royce is a bad decision compare that to what would happen if Parish was made assistant to Potter. Parish would try to run the show and we would back in trouble.

I've never had much against Royce apart from the teams performance when he was our defensive coach.

But is this a financial decision? Aren't we meant to be a club moving forward?

I don't understand the hate for him. I bet the vast majority of you don't know the exact role he had or the impact his coaching had. But you all jump on the hate bandwagon.
Didnt he coach St Helens to a Grand Final?

Not too keen on this, but since he is not being paired with Sheens, it might be ok to have him on board again.

i agree, i think he is a good assistant coach. People like him as a bit of a character, he doesnt have to give the half time speeches or do the game plans he is quiet adequate to lay out the witches hats, cut up the oranges and give a little coaching advice. He was a fair to good player in his day, although that doesnt equate to a good coach he isnt the head coach and he might have some little insight into the game that could be of use.
