OFFICIAL Royce Hunt - Official

I also think Hunts Mins has reduced as they have Soisifa TalaKai on the bench doing nearly the same thing.

I cannot wait for him to be here next year as I think with direction & Laui giving him orders he will be bending the line and creating space.

Yep, he was an impact player at Saints and Madge was pretty much forced to turn him into a long minutes player due to the shit cap situation he inherited.
Yes, initially.

But Madge could have done more with what he had.
He must have known Reynolds was on the noze at Souths. Instead we target Hastings.

After 4 years Madge did not get the team he wanted. Yes his choices were limited, but the team sunk. Had we at least held our traditional 9th on the ladder I would have considered him OK... 16th is a failure.

Highest paid players were happy to feign injury or play second grade. They signed on stupid fat contracts Pascoe gave them and never were all about the club. Madge or any coach was not going to succeed or even run 9th in that environment.

Watched the game and Hunt looks like he needs to lose minimum 15 kgs, came off the bench didn't really do much and was stuffed, looked like he had a tractor tyre around his waist

I think he was ok. Was a handful every time he ran, 1 stupid offload (attempted offload) though. Got through plenty of tackles. I wouldn’t say 15kg. Played longer minutes than he normally gets against the top of tree Panthers. He might have to drop 5kg but not much more.

We have needed impact off a prop and Hunt gives us that. Stefano showed in a few games what we needed and with Twal and Klemmer you can lock up the middle. Pole and Hunt have their areas to work on in defence and fitness, however let’s see how this goes with a new regime rather than write off 2025 when we still have 5 months to get there. I am excited to see if we can turn half breaks into points.

Our biggest signing needs to be a new strength and conditioning team to get us stronger in contact and fitter than we have been. I truly believe Luai will drive standards and culture changes we desperately need and with a bit of luck and better use of the roster we can improve as we were in many games this year only to fall away in the last quarter be it by stupid sin bins through laziness in tackles or poor decisions that I am hopeful Luai can improve through his voice or actions on the field.

Hunt will be good for us but like others I would have preferred 2 years instead of 3.

The issue is his minutes.
The attacking impact when he is on the field is top-notch.
But when he starts to tire, id have my wingers and hooker scooting from dummy half targeting him in defence... we need to do something about that.
But the fact is the sharks only give him 10- 15 minutes if that u can’t get match fit with those minutes, he will need to trim a few kgs and get much fitter, he will need to play 25 minutes, and work harder on his defence

Saw him 2 minutes after full time on the Fox broadcast joking around and laughing with JFH.
Just lost a qualifying semi.

I imagine the rest of the sharks pack.will be happy to see the back of him... I saw Rudolf several times take multiple hit ups in a set yet hunt spent more time walking than anything else

It’s not a great sign that he acknowledged he was ready to head into retirement. And we sign him for 3 years. To most likely play 35-40 mins a game.

Give the bloke a chance if he is bad next year I'll agree but I'll give him the off season and the trials before I get stuck in.

He is the wrong signing for us.
If we had some quality forwards around him sure but we don’t. Money would’ve been better value on someone else.

No way he will convert from a 10-20min to 40min+ a game prop in his last contract span of his career.

He is a bench impact prop nothing more or less.

Agree but will be surprised if we get a halfway decent 35 - 40 minutes a game from him. To be honest I've never really watched him closely in a game until last night. AS we'd signed him I thought I'd check him out. He was totally unimpressive. He made one good run and a couple of solid tackles but he was walking within a couple of minutes of coming on. When Penrith kicked he wasn't back in the line for a hit-up for at least two tackles.
I think he will be a dud for us and can't believe the Sharks wasted a bench spot in a huge game on him.

If the club was fair dinkin they should off got RCG , would off given us a meter eater and a good defender who could play big minutes, but we always go for the Aldi store player
