They were… at The Evening StarFriday drinks would have been a hoot !
Bowden sacrificed a grand final appearance by unleashing on Broadhurst to unsettle Manly in the qualifier. Pre planned by Warren Ryan. What a great photo... Perfect. Timing
They made the Balmain lads wear some tiny shorts lol…
Didn't realise he'd wrote a book... Have you read it @tiger_one ?
No Ink, this was a new one for me.Didn't realise he'd wrote a book... Have you read it @tiger_one ?
I dislike the club with a passion but Price Sterling Kenny and Cronin were always likeable and brilliant footballers for their club and also Australia
And then he went back to the centres for a season. Seriously good effort, that. Good skipper too.Now here’s a guy who started as a centre and ended up in the second row. He bulked up quite a bit.
Ok Douhei start pumping some serious iron at pre season training. And hit the tackling bags.
some serious talent in that team. Dave Edwards - consistently racked up 50+ tackles a game. Then put Mick Stephenson out of commission and 'disappeared' from the scene. Self preservation, probably. Steve 'Stoppa' Lavers - man he could 'hit' in defence. Players actively avoided a collision with him which is why Lockwood, who wasn't known for his defence, was planted next to him in the defensive line - one of the most effective 'body guards' of the era.
My memory is not as good as it used to be but i am fairly sure that Topliss scored 5 tries against Newtown at Henson Park and we flogged them.Good memories from a good sidesome serious talent in that team. Wayne Wigham also a highly gifted centre who had a great combination with Dennis Bendall. Unfortunately, he never really reached his ceiling, and Bendall had a horrible accident which left him paraplegic. Dave Topliss, one of the best Pommy 5/8ths. Scored 5 tries in one game against the Panthers, I think it was. And one of my favourites - Bing Pringle. And a pretty handy coach as well in Ron Willey.
Could be. Just thought it was Penrith, but maybe I'm mixing it up because I think he went to Penrith for a year or two after the Tigers stint. My memory is not as good as it used to be but i am fairly sure that Topliss scored 5 tries against Newtown at Henson Park and we flogged them.Good memories from a good side
