Matt Utai and Tim Simona named in the Samoan train on squad for a tour to England. Could be a great opportunity for Tim. If they can get all the people they're naming to actually go it will be a decent team. Daniel Anderson will have the clipboard.

didn't utai play for NZ at one stage??

congrats to both though!

Yes he has. You're allowed to swap teams during a World Cup cycle,=.
Uate and Tuqiri played for Fiji before they played for Aust…

Congratulations to Matt Utai and Tim Simona on making the squad. I couldn't get past the first page of the link provided by Yoss so I take it that it is a tour for the Samoan team and that they will be playing ESL teams or teams in the next tier competition.

what the? I see Frank Pritchard there does that mean he will not play for NZ??? damn he is a great player, oh well I hope he carves up for Toa.

Yeah the Samoan RL site is a bit bodgy. It looks like nothing is happening but if you click on the article and scroll down it's there at the bottom. I clicked on it a few times before I realised.

They're playing 3 games.

Toa Samoa vs Cumbria Selection
Saturday 16 October Workington

Toa Samoa vs England Knights
Saturday 22 October Coventry

Toa Samoa vs Ireland
Saturday 28 October 7pm Thomond Park, Limerick Ireland

Being named for another country has never stopped NZ (or Australia) picking players. I'd say though based on form Frank might be more likely to be picked for Samoa than NZ.

damn Frank is a must have player, but you see this is why international rugby league is so silly. if players qualify for more than one country, they will just play for the other one if they don't get selected.

Mrs T - I'd say the chances are somewhere between slim and bugger all. Best case scenario it might be on an Internet feed.

Bad news for the boys The Samoans have cancelled their tour of Great Britain 9 days before tour was due to start
The government pulled its funding Very disappointing
I know it would be a lot to ask but I wonder if the sixteen clubs or the NRL could front up the money for the sake of International rugby league

Yep saw that. NZ called off their game against the Cook Islands too. You're spot on though, the bigger countries (and it would need to be more ARL than NRL) need to give some assistance. Their failure to do so is very short-sighted. Developing successful comps and teams in the Pacific Islands is going to be of enormous benefit to rugby league as a code and Australia as a league playing country. Given some decent support and if they stopped losing players to Australia, Fiji and Samoa could easily be competitive in tests.

If the Samoans ,Fijians ,Tongans could combine for a Pacific Islands team they would be extremely strong if they could keep all of their players
Only problem would be logistics and the pride of the seperate countries which would be understandable
