Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

And regarding Moses, given his track record of narcissism, wouldn't he be playing the game of wait and see and watch how the new roster and coaching staff pan out? If he thinks he's on a winner, he'll sign but maybe not until March. Also it gives Parra time to sort out their finances and find a way to keep him on the next exorbitant deal.

?????? - A six year option? FFS

"The Parramatta Eels have received a huge boost, with star five-eighth Dylan Brown extending with the club until at least the end of the 2025 season.

Brown’s extension was announced by the Eels on Monday morning, with an option in the 22-year-old’s favour to remain at Parramatta until 2031.

I thought clubs could not make any new signings until the salary cap was sorted?
They can make signings but they won’t know how much space is left in their cap until after the figures have been sorted so signing players now is a bit of a risk.

That's the club panicking and getting bent over to get something done

There will be lots more linked to the Dogs... papers just making it up to fill space or agents using their name to promote their player. Every player used to be linked to the Roosters and they realised how close they were flying to the sun. Now its the Dogs turn.

This is more of a head office deal but still, We have made an enquiry to Former England rugby union head coach Eddie Jones to join the club as apart of the football operations
He will get plenty of big money offers from rugby
With Brown resigning that must mean Moses is going, can't keep both on big money.
Why?? The Dogs have no trouble squeezing players in. TPA's and a new cap will leave room for two big contracts

Agree, it’s now possibly more likely Moses will re-sign with the knowledge that he has a supportive 6.

The cap increase is never really that much it’s usually a million or 1.5 max. Brown re-signing will definitely be on more money, but when you look at all the players they re-signed, RCG and Paulo would not be less then 500K, Gutho at least 800K, Brown upgraded to maybe 600-800K not sure what he was on before. Hodgson if Parra were smart would not have signed him more than 500K at least 400K if they did it right. Plus they re-signed Matto and Lane and both of them would be getting around 700-800K given Matto loves money and would’ve gotten a big upgrade to stay and Lane having his best season last year would’ve earned him a bump in his paycheque. They also still have Nathan Brown who’s on more than 500K according to the media. They could offer Moses a million but they can’t go higher than that not without offloading talent. Not saying we will land him due to this but if Moses is just wanting money for his final contract Parra will have to up the offer if Tigers are offering more than a mil to land him.

i personally don’t believe Brown re-signing will sway Moses one way or another. obviously they’ve built a decent combination together but Moses also built one with Brooks from age 16.

Parra have always been in the drivers seat and he may take unders to stay, but I don’t believe Moses is any likelier to stay following Brown’s re-signing.

What it probably means is Moses has not signed with Parra yet. As they would have announced both signings in a big press release.

So he has either not signed with anyone or has agreed to terms with us. Still think Parra are slight favourites but that is a good thing, as I am usually wrong

Doubtful..... Very Doubtful.
It can only be a good thing, if Moses does end up on an extension with the Snakes, the amount of money and years the Snakes will have committed to a questionably-performing halves pairing.

Surely if Moses stays he's going to be on big money for at least 3 years (more likely 4). Papers are reporting 8-9 years for Brown, but in reality it appears to be a 2-year extension with options to 2031, and we don't know if those options are in the player's favour or not (probably half/half).

I've long been a Moses critic, somewhat out of spite, but I maintain a genuine opinion that Snakes had a rails-run to the 2022 Grand Final once Raiders took out Melbourne. This left Parra with a match vs 8th place (who arguably used all their juice to beat Melbourne away), then a qualifier against a Cowboys team that faltered badly in the final months of the season (finished 4 wins 4 losses in their last 8 matches, and needed an extra-time miracle to get past Sharks in Week 1).

And with that opinion, I do not believe that Brown-Moses are a premiership-winning combination. A finals-capable combination for sure, but they have a terrible finals record since coming together 2019.

Being mindful that the article about NAS says Bulldogs were considering making an offer, which is meaningless really. Tigers considered an offer for Munster. You can consider offers for whomever you please.
