Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don’t know how we come back from this.

Forget about paying transfer fees to get blokes out of the super league. That money will be needed to pay out the current coaching staff at some stage and pay massive overs to attract a new coaching staff.

Our half decent players will leave in the interim.

I thought last year was rock bottom but we’ve gone to a completely new level.
Benji will be the first NRL coach to quit or to be sacked before he even coaches one game. Theres no way he makes it to 2025.

Forget signing any more players. Papali’i, Bateman and Koroisau haven’t improved us.

Punt Pascoe, punt Lee.

Sign a new CEO, then find a real NRL coach.
Watched through the neverending pain of waiting for brooks to do something, but I dont notice many offloads from our forwards if any. And Jake Simpkins does better at Half than Brooks, three times in the first half he came rushing up at the speed of light in defence only to have the players he had lined up make a slight swerve and brooks going straight past them on all 3 occasions. Cause he was going to fast to turn and tackle, he was only ever going to get them if they kept running straight at him.

Signing Suggestions…

Release AD and Brooks asap. Surely we can arrange something. Would rather play Bateman and Koro in the halves.

Primary Targets:
George Williams
Aiden Sezer

Secondary Targets:
Mitchell Pearce
Braydon Trindall
Jonah Pezet

Other Targets:
Luke Metcalf
Toby Sexton
Niwhai Puru

Release Talau already, likewise release Nofo if we can get at least 300k off his contract... Otherwise let him go to reserve grade. Look I see no point in paying huge freight to get him off our books but he should be dropped from First grade.

Brooks has to go. Laurie can develop, Clearly under McGuire he regressed. Staines is a temp and AD is not a fullback. We see who performs and drop the others but those players have some potential.

Brooks needs to go.

Alright, who will you sign up instead when no one wants to come here.

I never even noticed that Koroisau played for over 50 minutes tonight, got a suprise when I looked it up, was he injured.

Im just about done this season, dont enjoy watching my team play anymore, all I ever seem to do is complain about brooks, but tonight I have to add AD he is terrible as well.
I enjoyed putting my grandsons presents together, instead of throwing things at the TV.
Also I don’t have a headache.

If you are looking for an experienced half who can play at a high level - Williams is your man. Don't see any issues with his attitude. Most of his (and Bateman's) problems started and finished with Sticky who for a supposedly elite level coach has some horrible traits (briefing against his players in the media being the worst). With Williams you get an elite level short kicking game. Although you're still going to need a territorial kicker because - for reasons which completely escape me - Williams never developed this part of his game in line with his short kicking. Great professional. First class workrate. Certainly won't get run over like Brooks seems to do every game. Personally I'd go for Dodd because he's an awesome talent who plays like a veteran despite just turning 21. But if I were Dodd I wouldn't want to go to the Tigers. No offence.
As for Sezer - no way. Not anywhere close to either of those players and has been completely outperformed by both - regularly.

The Sezer calls crack me up -
Bloke played NRL for 10 years and was only ever thought about in 1 of them.

Even then - he wasn’t the best player in his team that year, probably not in the top 4 players in his team that year…

Yet he’s going to do better here?
😂😂😂😂

The problem for the Tigers is things are going to get a hell of a lot worse before they get better as they transition out of their current playmakers. Do experienced vets want to be part of that kind of instability? Maybe they won't care if they're taking huge wages. But that isn't a good foundation for success. If the Tigers were a stock I'd be shorting it with every dollar I could muster in the short term.

I think it's more that he's going to do better than Brooks

Our only realistic option is to pay whatever it is Warrington want and get George Williams

Welsby and Williams simply must be our priority signings.
Pay what it takes, including transfer fees and chase them both hard.
And start today.

Also not worried about what the English clubs say regarding releasing players. They’re never going to come out and say, sure, take who you want.
They’re just building up their transfer fee and playing it smart. Money talks, always.

Lewis Dodd would be another alternative to Williams.

Enough is enough. Need to move now.

Scary thing is Sheens said he sees alot of talent in this group. It only took him 5 games to start sprouting that line. It took Madge 18 months before he had to start saying that because it looked like the guys wanted to see the back of him.

Money talks to players who aren't all that fussed about winning. But if you are ... say ... Jack Welsby, who was won at every level he has competed at (U16, Academy, Academy Rep vs Australia, St. Helens, England etc.) what's the hook? If Bennett picks up the phone (which he certainly will given his tight relationship with Jack's ex-coach) and talks about the roster he's putting together - that's a hook. But I've seen nothing from the Tigers which suggests they are capable of anything more than a big contract. And I doubt they can outbid the Dolphins anyway. Tier A players don't want to join reclamation projects.

Sheens sacked 14 Madge players and has since moved on Ken, and probably Daine and Noff. He knows it’s a weak squad. The big question now is can he overcome the fact that the club stinks in the eyes of elite players? A clean out in head office and some real footy IQ alongside Sheens would help.
We have bugger all kids coming through and noone wants to come. Kent is right there is a bad smell about the joint, we need to ask players who refuse to come, why. Then address those things. We just cannot seem to attract elite talent, even an over the hill 35 year old Mitchell Pearce said no. We have massive problems.
Even if Sheens can fix things, he only has 1 more season then the squad is being handed over to someone who hasn't ever coached before.

With no disrespect to yourself we have assembled an excellent forward pack, our problem is the halves steering and directing the ship terribly.
Our 1, 6, and 7 are our problem. They create absolutely nothing for us.
Our forwards have got us into excellent attacking positions in all 5 games, on numerous occasions, and the 3 positions mentioned above have not been able to fire a shot.
We need to replace those 3 positions ASAP.

Bulldogs found a way and can sign elite talent despite years of losing , you need to hitch your wagon to power and money, not Huey and [This word has been automatically removed]ing duey.
I just don't see the comparisons with the Bulldogs. Speaking purely as an outsider who has no skin in the game (although I've always preferred ... well ... Balmain to the Bulldogs of the day) - the Bulldogs are like Manchester United whilst the Tigers are Everton. One club has a history of successes (as well as failures) and ALWAYS seems to have ambition. Maybe too much ambition at times (particularly in the final years of Des). The other lurches from one disaster to the next year to year, decade to decade and has no ambition. I'm sorry. It's just how I see it from over here.
