Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

His deal at Canberra is for $2.3m for three more years … that’s money already guaranteed to him … so that’s what you have to pay less what Canberra chips in to move on
The rumour is very soft but would like to see it happen. You wouldnt think he would be worth $750-$800k a season but he is miles better than Klem, Stef, Bateman and Paps combined, so probably worth it if he is on that coin compared to those numpties and if he can find his 2022/23 form. A big IF. I find it hard to think any forward is worth more than $500K but then i have to remember its also not 1999 anymore. I think a 2 year deal $1.2 with Canberra to top up is more than a fair deal if they are looking to off load him. Those reasons would need to be looked into. It would be nice to get a player at a discount for once instead of the Tigers always seemingly on the other side. That Dud Sullivan peanut is on $500-$600 a year to play in the reggies, at least Corey would be playing starters or bench spot all year. Upgrade on Seyfarth??

10. Klem
9. Api
8. S.Fainu
12. S. Fainu
11. Corey
13. Pole

Klem is 4 years over his used by date but even with him still at 10 its a far better forward pack over the fairy floss that played this year. Corey adds that Seyfarth dumb ass energy to the pack with a lot less of the dumb ass part. Pole to play as a 3rd prop ala Gallen, we dont need a ball playing lock BS they go on about in modern day commentary if Jerry, Galvin and Api are playing their role.

I like it, get it done Richo.

We need some forwards ..that’s for sure …

He is on like $760k for three years though …. I dont want them to swap 1 Bateman for another
Especially one who has an old man with a mouth or rubs people up the wrong way or is lax at training, bcoz that’s probably not Bates. If he’s on more than $500 it’s a big no from me. At least he’d be here for preseason training.

That's big money for Horsburgh. $500k or $550k, then fair enough, but $760k a season is cap waste.

Those saying we need a "nutcase" are romanticising immaturity on and off the field. It doesnt help us to have loose cannons when we already struggle with discipline. He often comes off second best when he takes on the alpha male in the pack too.

If he was that good, Ricky would not have dropped him at all. He's been told to go back to reserves and work his way back into NRL and he's had a sulk instead. Emotionally driven player which just shows his immaturity. No thanks.

Fair call. If the Tigers work out what the issue is and not just a soft personality clash with DUI Sticky im all for it. Happy to have some dumb mongrel influence in the team. Would rather that than the skirts we usually put on the field.

People seem to want him because he is available …. He is available because the club he signed a new deal with not even a year ago don’t want him anymore …

They are going to need to take a risk on some players …. i Don’t know if this is the guy … they aren’t gunna get anyone perfect …but I really hate the money and three year commitment
I'm ok with him if he is paid his true value, but people are talking him up like he is a circuit breaker signing.

He had one good year, but didn't kick on. He is an OK first grader or bench player and he should be offered as much. Richo has been pretty good in terms of getting fair contract values for new recruits, so I'm sure we won't overpay if we do get him, but I'm still concerned about his behaviour and not sure we need that volatility amongst the playing group.

Even this year, he got sent off for headbutting someone in a Cup match. Our team can't afford players that will let us down because they can't control themselves. https://www.northweststar.com.au/story/8681471/nrls-horsburgh-accepts-bans-for-punching-headbutt/

Yeah well said.
He reminds he of Brown. $500 tops for 2 years could help us till we get someone better. But we need a prop and we don’t have many spots so I don’t see how he suits us at this stage. We need to replace mighty boy first and then extend Sione i reckon.

$500-$600 a season max

Paps was on $750K, Klemmer is on $850K, $600K Bateman, they offered $900K to big dumb useless Stef.

Get it done Richo.

If Ricky is desperate to off load horsbrough offer 350 / 400k per year, Ricky's desperate not tiger's
That’s it, get ruthless. If we get him for 350 for two years then I’m in.
Needs reverse incentives like if you’re old man speaks that’s -25k, annoying at training that’s -10k, annoying Sticky +10k.

Some random on Twitter posted it. Would not read anything into it.View attachment 14843
They can't even talk to him until he's in the last 6 months of his contract, which is seemingly still another 2.5-3.5 years away. Same as Makasini, can't talk to any other clubs until mid way through next year.
Why would we release some of if the best talents we have to a rival? Richos former club at that. When we're assuming ourselves as a development club.

But until we publicly announce their contractual futures everything is up in the air, open to speculation sadly

I think the game has passed NAS on…he it too big and immobile…..the Dogs have shown how a mobile pack of forwards working as one unit is far more effective than a big front rower….Bellamy would not have gone for Stephanie if he felt NAS had a few years left in him as a top notch forward….if we do sign NAS, no more than 2 years…no 4 year deal pleazzze
Sounds like WestsTigers circa 2005

Horsburgh to replace Papali'i at #13
Hetherington to replace Utoikamanu at #8
Dylan Walker to play #13 & #9 off the bench.

Seyfarth in the #11

Klemmer, Sam Fainu retain their spots.

Sione Fainu, Pole & Twal on the bench with Walker.

Harrison Hassett, Liam Knight & Peter Hola added as depth/challengers to the incumbants.

Mix the depth signings with the up-and-coming players like Lualili'i, Fa'agutu, Miller, Johannssen, Sukkar, Broederlow & Tofaeono.

These guys compete to replace the likes of Twal, Seyfarth etc. Instead of just handing out 1st grade jumpers.

No, our forwards are not 'impact' guys. But they would be strong & not likely to be stood over. It's not about the lunatic asylum. It's about stamping our authority, creating a presence.

I think he has kiss and made up with Ricky.... Ricky pulls his players into line same with Tapine no one is bigger then the club even if your wife thinks you are

Alright guys… Here is a real diamond in the rough! And one it’d LOVE to get 💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎

A bloke by the name of Sam Coster in the QCup!
Plays for Burleigh Bears 🐻
Been analysing this bloke for a while now! Leading the comp in tackles with 706 in 18 appearances and a 99% TACKLE EFFICIENCY IF YOU DONT MIND! Would easily have the best tackle efficiency in the NRL if he played!
Also TOP 2 in OFFLOADS made which shows his attacking threat and ability to create second phase for his playmakers!
Plays 80 mins most weeks and can play LOCK or Hooker which is great versatility! Real stocky build almost the same as a Cam Murray! Averages around 140m a game which is extremely solid for the amount of work he does defensively! Would be cheap as chips if we offered him a contract, huge upside! And a NSW boy tooo!! 🔥

You had me until the last line.
He’s probably shit.

I think he has been injured a fair amount of the season and something with his attitude didn’t quite work for Ricky.
Interesting that the Dogs are reportedly circling. Seems to fit their mould of smaller, busier forward with fast leg speed. I would be happy for him to get a middle role - for the right price.

I believe a lot of it is to do with the fact that his father sticks his head where he shouldn’t a fair bit, which would obviously ruffle Stick’s feathers.

there’s also some concerns surrounding his attitude, given he was told to work his way into first grade and never made it back. he also rubs players the wrong way at training a fair bit.

Big Red’s an each way bet, that’s for sure. but he might be the nutcase we need.
I would love a red haired nutcase.

But I think we need to be honest about Marshall. Is this guy going to be easy to coach? Or Hard?
If Sticky does not want him, why do we think Marshall can coach him?

Remember:
Sticky struggled with BJ Leulia. We signed him and failed.

Our team is in disarray. We need people who are going to be easy/easier to train, not people who need a Wayne Bennett to get the most out of them.

That team probably gets us to 16th.

None of those guys are killing it at their current clubs. Perhaps Walker, but why kill Da Silva's development by getting him to play minutes at hooker?

You also talk about presence and strength. Most of those guys get bent in tackles. What is imposing about Liam Knight or Horsburgh?

I think you're a glass half full kind of guy, but it's overly optimistic to call any of them imposing. Hetherington has done alright, but still a massive brain explosion risk.

Since when was Cam Murray stocky?
