Slater at it again

Did anyone else think that Billy Slater hit Winterstein high after he off-loaded the other night in the near-try movement? To me it looked obvious that he shoulder-charged him (he didn't look to wrap the arms around) and his shoulder connected squarely with Winterstein's head. Nothing was said by the ref, no penalty or review of the incident at all.

Winterstein was left dazed lying on the ground for quite some time and then gets up with blood coming from his mouth…a pretty sure sign that you have been hit high if you ask me. It was similar to Inglis' one last year ie: he had plenty of time to pick his hitting area and chose to just target his head, actually GI's one was very much more of an accident IMO.

Slater seems to get away with this sort of crap a lot, he is definitely a protected species (I would hate to think how many weeks Blair or Bryce Gibbs would get for a similar tackle). I am eagerly awaiting the day when the dirty bastard cops one in return and I hope it is especially hard, high and vicious :imp:

You're being pretty harsh on a bloke that was only a season and a bit a go being praised for how he protected an injured opposition Manly player when he had injured his neck

People get tackles wrong occasionally and especially fullbacks ,sometimes you time it wrong and everything goes pear shaped from there

This is also the same bloke who was sliding in feet first to wingers scoring in the corners.

Slater's always been a grub. Exhibit a - kicking skando in the head all those years ago.
Most players would've done what slater did in that David Williams case

I tend to agree, Slater plays the game tough but comes off as a pretty decent bloke to me. That Skando kick seems like the exception, especially considering we have over 250 games to look at with him (NRL, Origin and Internationals). It's not like he has a history of grubby behaviour.

Is there any youtube footage of the Skando head kick…?
I don't think I've seen it, would love to though. No disrespect.

POST LINK PLEASE.

I think the salary cap stench will burn in some people's minds forever and as a result they'll always find reasons to hate anyone or anything relating to the club. Hate him all you want, but you can't argue the fact the guy is the greatest fullback of the modern era and maybe the best fullback whose ever played the game full stop

Saw the replay tonight…
I don't think he was intentionally trying to hurt Winterstein,
Clearly just an attempt to stop the try.

Billy is all heart and plays to win every time,
Gotta agree with GNR, best fullback of recent times.

Massive contact to the head. He should be cited, there is zero question about it.

FWIW I actually like Billy despite being a Storm/QLD'duh. Best fullback I've seen play.

As Basil Fawlty used to say..'Please forgive him , he's from Queensland'.

Don't worry CK you may forgive a Qlder ,but a Qlder never forgives and never forgets and thats why we are nigh invincible

look at the form Qld players are in JT,Cronk,GI ,Slater

I reckon this could end up as NSW worse ever series loss

Skando tackled him, I think skando held on or was left behind, Slater half got up, looked behing and saw skando there, lashed out with his boot to his head then got up and played the ball…..memory hazy, something like that....but i clearly remember him looking first, seeing skando, then kicking....no accident

So being a good player should allow him to whack a player with a shoulder to the head??!! FMD I am glad you aren't on the judiciary then with that logic! :crazy Dunno if you have heard but supposedly this season the NRL had cracked down hard on shoulder contact to the head?
Us Tigers supporters would be soiling ourselves in anger if he had done the same thing to Farah.
Good player he may be but he is also a dirty bastard that gets away with more than most, that ain't got anything to do with hating the bloke it's just fact.
As I said before I would hate to see how many weeks Blair would get for doing the same thing.

Exactly. It was probably more due to the fact that he was caught under Williams' body at the time, it is hardly like he ran 50 metres to do it. People made him out to be Mother Theresa because of that one incident.
