Yes... 20 years ago, even only a decade ago a topic like this would degenerate very quickly into an us/them shit fight. If anything, this Muppet has probably solidified support & united fans who previously followed Balmain & Western Suburbs. This show of solidarity is heartening & certainly light years away from what was being posted the first few years of the Joint Venture.
Here's to a huge season next year & even better seasons in the next few years. We have seen what our young guys are capable of.
After a season under their belts in the top 30 & some good recruiting (so far at least) we should be more excited for 2025 than we have been for quite some years.
Bring it on. Please oh please make this happen. The merger hasn't worked. It has no soul. People talking about all the fans and sponsors walking away are kidding themselves. What matters is success. If the Balmain Tigers (one of the most iconic 'brands' in rugby league potentially playing out of the most iconic suburban ground in rugby league) go it alone and, god forbid, manage to make the finals more regularly than three times every 25 years, then they will have a massive (existing - both pre and post merge - and new) fanbase. Please Harry, kill this pathetic chimera and bring back the (proper) Tigers.
For sure they will make the finals more often…in NSW Cup !Bring it on. Please oh please make this happen. The merger hasn't worked. It has no soul. Balmain don't want to split - but voicing their objections im the media to HBG's self-serving rejection of the review recommendations has been done to place pressure on Romero & HBG to follow-through on their commitments to an independent WT Board... or justify why they've chosen to not do so!The Football Club is technically solvent, but is being funded by Wests Ashfield, with the funding guarantee ending at the end of this year. The point I'm simply making is it's clear that all parties involved want to support the proud history of Balmain into the future. They would need to find an alternative financier if they wished to split, but the Wests Tigers franchise licence would still be controlled by HBG, unless they chose to relinquish it, which I highly doubt they would. Would be great to see Balmain remain a part of that.
The last "successful" local Macarthur junior before the recent few debutants was fricking NOFA!!!A stand alone Tigers would have to switch to becoming a recruitment club wouldn’t they?
I think Richos view is that you need to stack a roster with multiple juniors to augment the imports.
Melbourne don’t have that luxury, but what they do have is superior recruiters and coaching staff. I don’t think Balmain have that. What is their plan to achieve that?
I think the future is in the South West but we’ve only just opened an office there.
The neglect has been almost criminal.
Both the old clubs can be proud of their history and also happy it’s been carried on. Best of both worlds.
You must like the idea of watching them in the Reggie's....or them being based outside of Sydney.Bring it on. Please oh please make this happen. The merger hasn't worked. It has no soul. Galvin was born & bred in the "slums" of Macarthur....and a bunch of those juniors from the "slums" won a comp together in the recent past. With the huge growth in the Macarthur & Wollondilly, the Western Suburbs junior catchment will be greater than that of Penrith in just a few years. If those juniors are nurtured right, Wests Tigers may have similar success to that of Penrith in recent years. The last "successful" local Macarthur junior before the recent few debutants was fricking NOFA!!!
Galvin was a Parra junior - NOT Wests!
Seyfarth is a Balmain junior!
Stop making shit up to fit a popular narrative!!
The slums of Macarthur are not a quality breeding ground for elite junior talent!
As much as I like watching them playing 'home' games at someone else's ground and losing every week. You must like the idea of watching them in the Reggie's....or them being based outside of Sydney.

I 100% agree with everything you say.A stand alone Tigers would have to switch to becoming a recruitment club wouldn’t they?

Don’t think Balmain have any voting rights on the board anymore either"Balmain tigers" and "wests tigers" and "castleford tigers" and "east's tigers"... they are all clubs that use a tiger as their mascot. Balmain do not own the word "tigers".
It won't get ugly.
Balmain don't have a leg to stand on lol.
We finally are starting to get things sorted on the pitch and for the future after 10 years of filth, now this. N.R.L should just force Balmain to sell its remaining 10 percent share. This is sickening … can’t even see any dark humour in this…
no other club has to put up with this off the field shit …
