He stepped down / was defeated , and Romero , who was originally axed as a board member / wests representative to wests tigers board , went for the HBG chairmanship and now has found her way back onto a board she was previous determined to not have the skills to be a board member .

Completely agree. And include some people who have been really successful in other parts of their life who are passionate Tigers supporters. Problem is, people who are reaaly successful, don't want to be associated with a group who are more broadly consdiered a bunch of muppets. Can you imagine someone like John Coates sitting in a boardroom, trying to keep a straight face, when across the table from him is the old Keith Richards wannaby muso who writes jingles in his spare time. Probably because Illawarra doesn’t have the long standing heritage like St George, Wests or Balmain do. They were an easier bedfellow for St George to take over. Most of their juniors already came from the Illawarra anyway. Balmain and Wests were completely separate entities from the beginning, hence less happy to be pushed together, much like Norths and Manly, except they spat the dummy very early on.
