Last weekend saw the commencement of the 2012 Super League season and the return of the Widnes Vikings to the top level and the opening of the Salford Reds new home ground.
In brief Widnes Vikings 14 Wakefield 32, Leeds Rhinos 34 Hull Kingston Rovers 16, Salford City Reds 10 Castleford Tigers 24, London Broncos 24 St. Helens 34, Wigan Warriors 16 Huddersfield Giants 20, Hull FC 20 Warrington Wolves 20 & Bradford Bulls 12 Catalan Dragons 34.
Round 1 of the Carnegie Challenge Cup was due to commence but due to weather conditions only one game was able to be contested with Leeds Metropolitan University 15 just edging out Ovenden 14, more news to come.

I wonder how the NRL teams would cope in these conditions..

Huddersfield v Wigan game 4/2

Thanks for the update GoldX, are the games being televised in Sydney this year do you know?

Quoting from the League Unlimited forum a poster there messaged Fox Sports if they were going to show the games but unfortunately Channel Nein are showing them again, so basically another year of not being able to watch their games live let alone on replay at a 'reasonable' time.
The Pomgolians get to see a lot of our games live but Nein in their wisdom show the ESL games at the family (un)friendly time of 12.15am around the same time you sit up to watch the infomercials.
I have been hoping for some time for the games to go back to Fox Sports, they might have shown them 5 days after the game but at least they were at a reasonable time and they did a repeat the next day.
Must have been a sight to see last weekend going by the photo supplied by another poster, will have to view the highlights on the Super League web site, in the 12 years since the Wests Tigers were formed only 1 NRL game has been played in the snow and the ESL is supposed to be a Summer game in the Northern Hemisphere!.

Agreed GoldX it was better when FOX showed the ESL a few years ago. I don't mind the design of the black white and orange jersey.

Geez imagine us playing a trial in England a week before Rd 1.

What are Warrington doing?

The photo of the game in the snow was actually Castleford V Salford not the Wire & Warriors, Catalans V Hull FC at Perpignan has been called off this weekend as the 'pitch' was frozen as were a number of National Rail Cup games for the Championship games, not much better luck either for the Conference teams in the early rounds of the Challenge Cup.
And we're told there is global warming by Bob Brown and the rest of his loony Green Party!.
