Swearing, deliberate and disguised - Cut it out please

Of late there has been a noticeable increase in the amount of swearing, deliberate and disguised, both during the week and of course on gameday, moreso when the Wests Tigers lose.

Be that as it may, it's unacceptable and won't be tolerated. Myself and the other moderators have deleted our fair share of posts of late, due to people seemingly unable to string a sentence together without resorting to language which violates forum rules.

Before people start labelling me as being overly precious and pedantic among other things, I myself swear regularly on a daily basis, at work and at home. However I also know how to shut it off when it comes to posting on here. We have rules here for a reason, please refresh yourselves with them from time to time.

If posts are made that contain swearing, deliberate, disguised or abbreviated, they will be deleted. If members continually disregard the forum rules, then they may end up having their posts moderated prior to having anything approved on here.

It's not hard to string a sentence together without swearing. It's not hard to get your point across without resorting to swearing. Most of us posting on here are adults, so please take this on board when posting and set an example for the younger members of the forum.

Everyone, myself, mods and admin are to blame here…think of ol' ned flanders and what he'd say when you feel the need to cuss...he's fairly inoffensive.

I think the problem is acceptance

What is acceptable now would of got you a clip behind the ear 20 years ago

The problem is knowing what is acceptable and what isn't acceptable now

Forgot to add there are some words that annoy me more than bad language ( for example soft )

Me thinks this is a reference to some of my recent posts. I will fall on my sword, and bow out graciously. It's been fun on here for a while, but it's way too moderated and pedantic lately. Go Tigers, hope to see some of you guys around at the games. Chunky gone

why not just let people say things how they wish to say them and have words automatically replaced with asterisks?

ye i agree, i dont consider disguised swearing that bad

Personally I don't think the forum is over moderated and I don't want to see this forum end up like certain other league forums where every second post has swearing in it.

Why not just construct an argument without resorting to swearing? It's really not difficult. Besides check out some forums where that is tolerated and all you see is sentences like: You're a cl**n m**e, a real du*b id**t!! It's still annoying and makes things a lot more personal that it needs to be…

I've existed under the extant rules in the past - but got the impression they had relaxed seeing some recent posts.

On that basis I've breached the rules at least once tonight by writing "how the F is…..." - but I did believe that level of disguise was okay. Apparently not - so I'll do my best to not repeat.

Please provide greater clarification because the english language & in particular alleged profanities evolve constantly - as do the standards associated with their use in various fora.

An update to those standards/specs on this forum to allow the likes of the typical colloquial terms for urine and faeces to be used is due.

We should not be seeking to protect teenagers from basic words like that which they hear and use every day - but I totally agree with Yoss!

As for tigprmz - EDITED BY RED - peace young fella!!

Take it easy Raj/Sheldon (as you described yourself)!

I think you need to look up 'swear' in the dictionary….there is none in your cleverly disguised example.

Yeah that was on purpose champ…

In any event, my OP is clear for all to read. If members think it is beyond their ability to post without swearing, there are other forums available for them to post on.

Well said. The only swearing I'll cop is from Mrs Alf (which is usually warranted)
