I might be the only person who finds this annoying, but what's the deal with the word "list" starting to be used to describe a team's squad? I thought this was only something that those stupid AFL people do.
As far as I'm concerned, a list is something you make before you go to the supermarket. On the NRL website there is actually a tab for "TEAM LISTS". WTF? I've heard Brandy Alexander use the word a few times also, as in "They've got a pretty good list this year".
Can you imagine if the sports leagues in America or the European soccer leagues used the word to describe their playing squads? IMO it's just a really lame, inadequate word to use to describe a club's players and conjures up images of a team keeping track of their players hand-written on a piece of paper.
I'm not saying they should use "roster" because that's the term the Americans have always used. Squad would be perfectly fine, though.
