Tedesco - Wing or Fullback

Having seen the tries conceded down Teddy's wing the past 2 weeks it's apparent his defence is not up to first grade standard and Potter now has a tough call to make here. Clearly he rates Teddy of more use than Utai. However Teddy looks like a fish out of water when the ball is run in his direction. A lot of it looks like nerves of which are caused by a lack of first grade and lack of positional experience. Potter must decide which way to go here.

1\. Potter can keep Tedesco there in the meantime and know he will improve with each game played there. With match time and training, he will improve.

2\. If Potter wants Teddy in the squad, he may have to look at the pros and cons of Moltzen and Tedesco. Would Moltzen be a better option short term on the wing?? Or does he opt to continue switching them during the game, as per the current set up.

3\. Or does he replace Tedesco with a more natural wing option. Even the possibility of moving Lawrence for the short term out there and bringing in Simona or shifting Moltzen to centre?

Personally i'd stick with option one. Tedesco will eventually end up in the 1\. For now though blooding him on the wing isn't a bad thing, defensive frailties aside. He should improve game to game.

Tedesco should be fullback, plain and simple. I'd rather give Mr T or Nofoaluma a run on the wing.

Willow is the voice of reason.

Teddy should be full back as he has the natural instincts for the role and could be our "Billy Slater"

I agree we should develop Mr T on the wing. We need another wrecking ball on the flanks like the great TT.

I think Moltzen has to stay at the back but we saw him swapping with Tedesco at stages. It's clear that they have a good playing relationship and I think the side Tedesco is best off playing as they are now.

But I don't think you can be too hard on a bloke in his first one or two NRL games, out of his natural position, against the best team in the competition. I think the fact that he is 'somewhere' in firsts shows that the coach and others have a high opinion of him.

put him at fullback and let him grow.
would love to see teddy koro and nofo as our back 3 in the next 2 months.

With Simona or even Fine as a centre….oh man. A guy can dream I guess

Honestly Mr T to me would be a massive liability. The turning point of the game was Reddy for some reason coming in off his wing for the Fonua try.

I think Utai should still be there. Offers experience toughness and can finish off tries that i Know Reddy cant. Its not like Reddy's defence is any better.

Both Moltzen and Tedesco have trouble catching the high ball, but I think Tedesco offers more in attack, so I think Tedesco would make me feel a bit more comfortable if he was wearing 1.

Its pretty rough to drill Tedesco's defence over the last 2 tries last night. Last week he compressed with the line and was run around, and last night he held his ground with numbers against him and they went inside him, he is damned either way. Lawrence exposed him multiple time last night and Braith did a great job covering his poor reads multiple times.

Yes, he did slip off a tackle for a try, but it wasnt a one on one, and would have been a speccy if he dragged him down. He covered 2 options until they were forced to decide, and lawrences man hit the hole he left wide open for him. Im not trying to carve up Lawrence over it, but to chip Teddy over those tries is wrong.

Exactly. Cantake blame for Manly's first try ansd thats about ti. Remember he also ankle tapped billy when he was almost away. Lawrence was at fault for most of those tries down that side in any case

Tedesco for FB , without a doubt. But whoever gets the wing spot outside Lawrence better be ready to tackle two because they why Tedesco is missing tackles..Lawrence is missing in action.

Fullback for sure. The bloke currently in the 1 shouldn't be near first grade.

lol …
worst post of the year.

moltzen has been good.

can we call a spade a spade in here?
teddy was in position to make the tackle and missed.
made a good decision to come in with lawrence in no mans land and missed.

it's okay to admit it.

i would like him to go a game without dropping a bomb though.

I am as eager as anyone to see young Ted play fullback but I have to say…Moltzen isnt doing a bad job at the moment.

One dropped bomb last night that looked like a deadset mongrel to catch but apart from that he was safe. Should have been accredited with a try save for Melbournes first and held the back well. Potter is grooming Ted and I would leave things as they currently are. By the time he eventually (inevidibly) starts as our number one he wont be so raw to first grade as he would have played quite a few matches. Potts is also giving him about 15 minutes a game at the back each week. He is bringing him along slowly and nicely.

My question is when he is ready to take the number one jumper, what do we do with Moltz? He has been good this year.
