The Coaches Merry go round.

I know Applicants are in limited suppy, but I can't understand why some Clubs sign discarded Coaches.

Most Coaches that are talked about as coming to Clubs, have been sacked many times in the past, yet Clubs think thay will somehow turn things around for their Club…..?????

Take John Lang for example, discarded by Penrith and Cronulla, yet Souths thought he would make the ideal Coach. We all know what happened there. What track record made them think he would be a good Coach. Many other Clubs have the same thinking.
What has changed to make a discarded Coach somehow turn into a world beater at a new Club.

I know there may be personal issues with players and the playing roster is a consideration, but at the end of the day, it's about getting a successful to your Club......and discarded Coaches don't cut it for me.

Ricky Stuart, punted by the Roosters and the Sharks, why would he be anymore successful at the Tigers???

Why do Clubs stay on the Coaches Merry go round??

Its all about profile, to keep the sponsors and the punters onside clubs tend to go for the tried and trusted. I think its good to look outside the square or at least take a punt on a up and coming coach. Theirs also thing who can attract the old marquee player. Its funny you dont see the same merry round stuff in the coperate world, well at least not as much

Mixed post there mate.

Lang kept Cronulla competitive in his time there and won Penriff a premiership. He could coach but I think got left behind as the game has revolutionised somewhat in the last five to ten years.

Stuart inherited a great team at the Roosters from Graham Murray and made great recruiting decisions to punt the likes of Soward, Kimmorley & De Gois and hire players like Hughes, Maitua, Ross & Cuthbertson.

if this is about Sheens….i'll scream

No, not about Sheens…..

Just Coaches in general, like Anderson, if he were to be hired by a new Club, what makes them think he can offer something that he couldn't at Parra??

You have a short memory - we got Sheens when the Cowboys sacked him.

There are exceptions…....

Watching Tahu's interview on FoxSports at the moment about his dismay at Elliott getting the sack as Elliott was the factor that got him to Penriff. Funny since he isn't actually supposed to be playing still… :unamused:
