The Commission

What are people's thoughts on the Independent Commission so far? It seemed for so long that their introduction would be the revolution that rugby league has been waiting for. But it does just seem so far that they haven't achieved anything other than reformatting the finals system. The tv deal seems as though we're in for 5 years of the same garbage that channel 9 have been dishing up for as long as I can remember. I hope I'm not being too harsh too soon and that they have a huge off season. What are people's thoughts?

There doing a good job. I think there goal for the TV deal was just to get a one billion deal.. If all the games were live the game would probably be 200mil poorer.. Having to wait an hour is annoying but I prefer that then star players leaving the league to union and afl..

I think they are doing a fair job. From the fans point of view nothing much has changed. I can still watch more AFL on free to air than I can Rugby League. Not sure if this a reality or just when I am on watching TV there seems to be much more AFL content.

They have got to fix the sheppard rule. For 100 years + it has been pretty clear. Now we have this tool Bill Harrigan giving his interpretation. It is a joke. Time to get some ex players to teach the current crop of referees how the game is played and what the rules actually mean and why they are there.

I think they have done a good job to date… They had their pants pulled down pretty early in the process by the power-hungry NSWRL aligned teams, and have now averted any breakaway competition being formed for the next 5 years.

Hopefully they can start making in-roads over the next 12 months. RL is a very very political landscape!!!

Tomato tomato as far as I'm concerned Nothing has changed and nothing will

They will still bail out clubs that are failing and forget about Regional Qld And NSW

Probably already lining up a pay rise for themselves as we speak

The next thing they need to do is make it benefit of the doubt to the defending team.. It will stop so most dramas to do with tries..

If the $800million from Ten was correct, then that would have required a $25million offer from Fox Sports to be correct. Considering it was reported as being ~$450million, they must have been able to get close. I would gladly cop a $25-50million loss, but $100-200million would have been too much to lose.

No revolution experience as of yet

1\. Go back to 1 referee
2\. Golden point canned or highest score at end of 10 minutes
3\. School these so-called referees on shephards!
4\. Origin to stand-alone weekends
5\. Expand the free-to-air viewing, more games live (especially to areas like Melbourne)

For cryin out loud get rid of golden point.

I agree.
1 point each for a draw at end of 80 min.
and whilst changing things, get rid of trainers being on field behind the play and instructing.
