Similar to other famous and over used quotes such as _"We are taking it one week at a time"_ or "_We just need to focus on our game"_, I have noticed another quote starting to get significant traction.
It is applied to the star player of the opposition:
_"He's going to hurt us at some stage (but) you don't want that to be too many times."_
I see this written about Benji, Carney, Barba, Slater etc. It is a clever quote because it recognises "x" player must be stopped, but at the same time does not provide ammunition for "x" to fire up.
It shows how the psychological pre-game talk has evolved. Imagine when questioned by Roy what he was going to do about Terry Randall and Dallas responded with "Well Roy, he is going to hurt me, but I will try not to let him hurt me too often…"
