The race for the spoon

and one of those two needs to be Parra in the last round
Which is unlikely.

They really dropped the ball sacking BA.

He was holding that joint up for quite some time.

Fantastic coach, I know he comes across awkwardly, but he’s unafraid.

After Parramattas demoralising loss tonight, we really need to put the foot on their throat with a win on Sunday. Added to our pending bye points, we’d be effectively even with them and all the pressure would be on them, with Roosters their next opponent lol….

Well, despite the enormity of the game last week, the boys just could not deliver and let 6 tries in against the season's worst attack. Its probably time to shut this thread down and accept our fate as a three time loser, but there is still a flicker of a chance for us if they are good enough. Our biggest enemy at the moment is our defence. Our points differential is 100 worse than Parra's, therefore we must win 2 of our last 3 games + the bye and finish on 18 points. We also need Parra to lose all 4 of their remaining games or at least get flogged mercilessly in 3 of them. Whichever way you look at it, round 27 against the Eels is a must win at any costs game. Our second win needs to come against either Souths or Manly. Souths are the easier game. This weekend is our last chance you would assume.
Lets go boys...Get it done!

When the Eels beat the Warriors 30-20 earlier this month, I knew the spoon was ours. Our only chance is for Eels to lose all 4 remaining games and this round against the souths is a must win match (they will beat us). And I can't see us beating manly either.

Again. Parramatta are a class above us. They were never going to get the wooden spoon. They have belief in themselves. We don't.
Last night helps us. We need to play our part and win today. We do this and the race is still alive.
Yes Parra are a class above…at full strength. Which they are not and won’t be for the remainder of the year.

Agree it’s very black and white now.
Win today or spoon time.

Don’t see us getting them on F&A so only way to avoid the spoon is we need to win 1 extra game.

Well we asked and we received. It was a putrid performance from a very very poor team, but it was a win. We now are one step closer to keeping destiny in our own hands.
We are on 14 with a bye in hand. Effectively, we and Parramatta are both on 16 points with us having 2 more games left and them 3.
Manly should put the cleaners through us which means we have to beat Parra in the last round. Even that may not be enough however to beat the spoon, as I feel Parra have one more win in them.
Brissie are playing pretty good footy and have the bye this week. They should be well rested to smack Parra next week. Saints the following week is our concern. That loss last week could really bite us on the arse.

Anyway as of this week, the race is well and truly alive as predicted.

Only 3 viable option concerning the spoon finish.
If Parra beat Saints, or Saints beat Parra by anything up to 61 points this weekend, we must win round 27 to avoid the spoon
If Saints beat Parramatta by 62+ this weekend, we can lose and still avoid the spoon as long as it is a very small loss.
Lets be serious though...we win we avoid it. Anything else is fantasy.

The last 10 weeks have been a hodge podge of shit performances mixed with some encouraging signs. I predicted we required 2 wins from 9 plus the bye to avoid it, turns out we'll need 3 plus the bye.

No excuses...we've had plenty of chances and our peers running this race have all stepped up bar Parra. Time to bury them.
