I reckon this weeks team selection is motivated to justify to us fans why the Tigers will not offer Shannon Gallant a contract for next year.
Blind Freddy can see that since we have moved Benji to 6, Moltzen to 7 and Gallant to 1 we have won 5 in a row and the team has shown attacking flair and fluency not seen since Morris was brought to the club.
I reckon the Tigers have a huge question mark over Gallants defensive capabilities. Would've Gallant stopped a runaway Minichello like Moltzen did last Sunday?..probably not given his defensive lapses in the last line the previous two games. Gallant is a brilliant player, positionally plays the #1 really well, he has blinding speed, backsup very well and is fearless in taking bombs…but he is suspect in the last line of defence and Moltzen is a bit better than him in this area.
Moltzen, in my view has had a stellar year, he is equally effective at 1 as he is at 7...IF and this is the big question.... Lui steps up and plays well for the rest of this year, then he will probably have the inside running to partner Benji in the halves in 2010, which means Moltzen will be our fullback, also given our signings for 2010 in Mitch Brown etc.,. therefore Gallant will be on the outter. This is my view..what does everyone else think?
