Tigers and Braithe Post Storm

First of all apologies Braithe for bagging you last week, I said too old too slow. Mate you can stay there for now. Other than a bad missed tackle which few could could have effected given the circumstances, and a resultant try, you helped the structure enormously.
Proud of the guys , the penalty count should shame you although the ref must have been Slaters dad.
I hope this is a turn around moment, Benji, Blair' and Boedine are ok.
Well done guys.

Braiths gotta stay at 7 for the most part of this year, assuming he can play like last night.

He offers a good kicking game and with him there he is dominant enough to override Benj and Rob. The team looks much stronger in defence with him at 7\. Hopefully with some more time there he can get the backline functioning better. Apart from 7 or 6 I can't see any value in him for the team.

They can assess Millers progress through State Cup and make a decision on his future at the club later in the season, with it most likely that he'll be moved on. Brooks looks to be the long term option for 7, but no need to rush him.

Throw Moltzen into 6 if Benji's out so Anasta can stick to the 7\. Less shuffling with combinations then.

thought he was crap.
a miracle we scored that last try after anasta butchered our momentum with a horrible pass.about the only pass attempted on the left edge.
kicking was average at best.

I dont think he'd be in the top 6 halfbacks in the game, more like bottom 6, but the point still remains that he is innefective in the back row and imo the right fit for number 7 in this side. They have to play him somewhere (and not just while Benji's injured). Both Miller and Anasta have differing pro's and con's, but I think the cons for Miller (mainly more fragile defence, inexperience and lack of authority)have him behind Anasta.
Anasta had no cohesion with the backline, but I'd imgaine that will gel in coming weeks.
Most importantly it allows a real backrower into the starting side.

Bonstonker, gotta remember Melbournes umbrella defence and the way the close out backline plays, hence Potters gameplan to take them on up the middle.

It never gelled at the Roosters, don't know why it should happen with us. I'd be pleasantly surprised though.

However, yes, it does allow a good backrower in

I totally agree, we have this year what we lacked last year… a stable #7

2005 we had prince @ 7
2010,11 we had Rob Lui @ 7

With out stable halves we will repeat 2012 year in year out..

For the short term, anasta is the solution.. gradually we can develop younger players..

I like what i saw last night.....

You guys are kidding…Braith was excellent last night, he took the line on, wasnt overwhelmed by Rob and Benj and his kicking was above satisfactory....but it was his defence. he was everywhere cleaning up missed tackles like a roving backrower. He personally saved 3 tries that I remember and had a dig all night long.

You guys who think anasta was average need to get your hands of it, he looked ten times better in attack and defence than miller who has been very average.

The next 4 weeks+, Guiding the team around the park in Benji's absence is a massive test for Anasta - and our season could depend on it.

And if Benji is not back by Origin, Braith may be skipper as well as playmaker!

Correct.

I'm not a fan of Braith but on that effort he is a better option that Miller in the halves. If Miller is good enough he will get another shot in first grade.

Well said. Anasta played well enougfh to keep that spot for me, however it was probably a bit easier with the forwrd pack going forward all night. I think it worked well and as someone said, it allowed us another proper back rower. Anasta wasn't really cutting it their, but boy did his defense lift. Good game Anasta, it now up to Miller to get his spot back.

If we are talking about the odd poor pass, what about the 6 Benji threw out the back to… nobody?

Anasta was fantastic what the team needed and he looked to be enjoying himself.
