Tigers games on the NRL app

Just wanted to let people know who didn't use the NRL app last year. If you don't want to pay for foxtels, and you can handle watching games on a small screen (iPad preferable to iPhone of course) and your wifi is good then it's worth it. I made it through the entire season without many hiccups and got to see every tigers game that wasn't on 9\. It's a shame they don't have the state cup or 21s but can't have everything.

4 Stars.

what's the quality like? i might get it, although i'd probably have to watch it on the Nexus 7 (7 inch screen) unless i get the new nexus 10.

is it better than the normal internet streams?

For $109 you can buy an Apple TV device and you can broadcast your Ipad to your TV as well. So total investment of $200 to watch all the Foxtel NRL games on your TV all season and next season you have your Apple TV and can just pay your annual sub. Or monthly, whatever.

oh yea, chromecast would work great. $30.

but is the quality really good enough to put from a tablet to a TV?

As long as your internet speed is good the quality is to, i discovered this about half way through the season sucks when tigers are on 9.

awesome, i'll be trying this out for sure then!

Better idea… If you know ANYONE who has foxtel they get 3 Foxtel Go accounts for free. Ask them for one of their foxtel go accounts and you can watch foxtel go on your PC or iPad for FREE ....

Actually the app won't work through the apple TV as the NRL have locked the screen sizes it will play on. It does work on the IPad but you can't air play the NRL app unfortunately

However it works really well on the IPad. I generally went to the pub and watched the Tigers games on FOX anyway but for watching other games it was great - quality was really good

That's true - I use my ipad to watch all the foxtel channels when I'm away from home. Unfortunately you can't get on the big screen as foxtel has encoded the coverage so that apple tv or other devices are unable to stream it.

Here is how I watch Foxtel GO on my TV via Apple TV.

1) Install Foxtel GO on your PC.
2) Download and install "**Air Parrot**" on your PC…its free to try $10 to buy
3) Start Foxtel GO on your PC....selecting what you want to watch.
4) Start Air Parrot on your PC and select the Apple TV to stream to.
5) Go to your TV with Apple TV and bingo your PC is being streamed to your TV with Foxtel GO running.

sort of like **free** Foxtel if you can snare a Foxtel GO account from a friend!

Thats a crazy hookup Alexaki… are you sure there are no added costs for the Foxtel subscriber? I dont want the Outlaws crying foul if they cop a bill...

My TV is cabled to my PC as the second monitor, so you have me excited not having to stream fox games, or the free UFC events when Im looking after the childerbeast.

No there are no extra costs - if you are a subscriber to Foxtel you get Foxtel Go free - it can be installed on up to 3 platforms i.e. ipad, PC. You can only get channels that you subscribe to though.

B&W try it and you will see how good it works…Foxtel allow 3 legit accounts using foxtel GO. Foxtel GO can run on a PC, MAC or IOS device....You will only get the channels the subcriber gets...and the 3 accounts on GO can be used simultaneously.

You got me thinking.

Foxtel Go works with Foxtel Play. If four people all split on Foxtel Play subscription we could pay 25% each and get what amounts to a full Foxtel Play sub.

Apparently the play device counts to the device limit so it'd only work for three accounts and foxtel play foxtel go devices don't count PC and Mac, just mobile and tablet devices. Still work though.

not a bad idea!

does foxtel play include foxsports?

Does if you want it to. It's $25 for each of the "genre" packs of which 2 are a random mixture of your general stuff like Fox, FX, Arena and that, one is docos and one is kids channels and then $25 for the sports pack on top and $25 for the movies if you want that too. Personally I'd just go one of the genre packs because you have to and then the sport, so $50 all up.

If three of us that have kids have a crack we can get the kids and sport pack for $50 a month and divide it by three. Or the person who has the main account can pay $20 and the other two pay $15 each for their Foxtel Go access.

If we get a few of us keen we can just put together options and whoever wants whichever option can buddy up with others who want that option. Something like that.

Best part is that it's no contract so if it goes tits up we can just cancel it.

I'd say the way to go would be to have one main subscriber and the other two pay the main person each month. That way if they don't pay the main subscriber can just change the password on the account and lock them out and/or cancel the whole thing.

Keep in mind that only the main subscriber would be able to watch it on their computer/laptop … the others would only be able to use a mobile phone or tablet hence them paying less.

What y'all think?
