Tigers Matts Win Again

Balmain HM team defeated SWA Squad 34-6\. Suppose a win is a win but it would have been nice to put 50+ on this team. That now puts the Tigers in 2nd place on the ladder after the Roosters defeated the previously undefeated Rabbits, we take on the chooks next week at Leichhardt so we will need to be on our game to get the 2 points from this one.
There were a number of players out this week but simple mistakes, dropped balls and lack of aggression in defence kept the SWAS interested. We need to get out and apply defensive pressure if we are to beat any of the better teams in this competition, forwards constantly running back into the ruck aswell as running 1 out is resulting in us not gaining enough momentum in the first couple of tackles of each set. We have 3 hard games coming up and need to win at least 2 of them against the Roosters, Panthers and Eels, I'm confident we can do it but we must improve our performance on this weeks effort.

WOW Congratulations to SWSAS on scoring their second try for the year !

Not much of an "Academy " Have they actually ever won a game in their history ?

I doubt anyone will beat the Eels in this age group and as Balmain have only played the lowest ranked teams so far plus had a bye….to win at least 2 of the 3 hard games will be a tough ask. The Canberra game in Canberra won't be easy either.

Canberra usually produce good juniors and that will be a tough road trip.

Agree with Phantom in relation to his comments, and to add to that, the forwards seem to be getting in the way a bit when the tigers do try to attack through the backs, and when they hit it up in the middle they are not running in two's, this must change.

The tigers forwards need to support each other when they run and give the backs a chance to put the ball through the hands.

Blackandwhite is a little harsh with his comments about who have the tigers beaten so far as most of the front runners have relatively easy draws this year, and you can only beat those you are playing. I think everyone knows parra are the team to beat but lets see what happens later in the competition, you just never know. The good thing is the tigers have more improvement in them yet.

It is a tough run home but I know the boys are confident and supporters have confidence in the them. "Go The Tigers"

I agree with Flash somewhat again. The Tigers Hm teams have talent. I feel they go too wide too early and are not laying the foundation for the backs. I think it must be the game plan for the forwards to run back into the ruck because they all do it. When the forwards do get wide it is great to watch. The backs seemed to have slippery hands on the weekend with dropped balls and passes going behind or forward. There was a few positional changes that I dont think worked but I sure the coached noticed that as he moved them around again during the game. A couple of big games coming up but I am sure the boys will and can stand up with Tiger Pride and show everyone what they are made of. GO THE TIGERS :sign:

The forwards do go back into the ruck a lot of the time which I dont really undertand, whats wrong with getting the ball two passes wide?

The changes made to the side had little impact on the way the tigers played the side seemed to just be lethagic. The forwards need to muscle up in defence in the middle with aggression. Whilst I will agree there was a number of drop balls the passes were pretty much ok, one pass (in the western corner) that should have led to a try was called back for a forward pass which wasn't forward at all, as I was in line with the pass in the corner and it was fine.

Tigers have an issue with a couple of the tigers backs waiting for the ball to come to them and when it dosen't they certainly don't go looking for it to get more involved or take pressure off the forwards.

The issues are minor and will be corrected everyone should relax and have confidence in these young men. Lets all get behind them.

Just heard a rumour that the HM players didnt get to warm up on Saturday. They only did 10 mins of stretching. Are you kidding me????Thats why the looked and played lethargically. Everyone knows thats where they players not only physically warm up but mentally warm up as well. That is where they go through their game plan, where they set themselves up for the battle. That is where the team bonds. Come on guysget it right. Do the right things by the players. What if any of them had of been injured because they hadnt warmed up their muscles. Not good enough coaching staff!
