Just some brief news aired on channel 10 sport:

The Tigers have some fancy new sideline seating for the players, they look like car seats and recline back;

Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens concedes the off-field drama around star Benji Marshall has been a distraction

Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens has condeded the off-field drama around star playmaker Benji Marshall has been an unwanted distraction for the NRL club.

Marshall played his first game since he was charged with assault in Monday night's 24-14 loss to Canterbury, scoring a brilliant individual try to almost single-handedly haul his side back into the contest.

The face of the league will be back in action against the Warriors at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday night and Sheens said his team needed to put the Marshall issue aside and focus on football.

"I'd be lying if I said it wasn't some sort of distraction for everybody but there's so many things during a season that so-called distract you," Sheens said.

"We all learn to handle it but at the time it's an issue.

"We're not going to use that as an excuse or anything like that but I'd prefer it not to be there."

Sheens said the Tiger's captain had been struggling with the issue but, apart from his kicking, was happy with his performance at ANZ Stadium.

"Out of his own mouth I think he has had a little bit of issue with it, but who wouldn't?" Sheens said.

"You've got to get on with it, you've got to leave your problems at home when you come to football, you've got to be able to switch off your issues … and turn on when you get to football.

"That's what it's all about, that's what they learn to do and that's what he's got to do."

In doubt forwards Bryce Gibbs (knee) and Gareth Ellis (ankle) will be given until match morning to prove their fitness, Sheens said.

Classy!

Sounds like Coach Sheens is creating excuses before a game he feels the team will lose again…..this waiting till match time to prove their fitness, doesn't sound good....Ellis & Gibbs won't play IMO

I am not surprised Benji is distracted by his impending Court matter, 99% of the population would be if in a similar situation. The key is what has been put in place to assist him and help him to concentrate on his football come game time- IMO if Benji does his best in the circumstances, that's all that can be asked of him and if that happens, look out warriors!

big sooks :bawling really awwww cmon get fair dinkum sheens give them a rev up not cuddle them excuses are out already no wonder modern footy players are big sooks cmon tigers rooooooooooar tmorrow put egg on my face

Agree - but I still ask why the likes of Dwyer played liked park-footballers on monday (not like he is best mates with Benj)!!!

Rowdy & Aysh - who have far stronger personal friendships with him played great!!!

I get the feeling that Sheens is trying to soften the warriors up mentally Bit like Raiders Semi If Tigers don't come out primed to fire tomorrow I will be surprised No Mercy Tigers

Gees there some bulldust being sprouted here…red youre talking garbage

Dwyer played like a complete amateur ink - please tell me how 4 runs for 31 metres & 17 tackles with **6 misses** is anything more than that!!!!

And his lack of ability in taking that ball before half-time that gave them the shot right in front was a disgrace!!!!!!

Rowdy & Aysh were very good - as recognised by their scores in the 3-2-1 department!

And both are very close with Benj - unlike Simon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be that as it may - in your opinion - what it has to do with the intensity of the friedships with marshall and the quality of footy played is the dung Im talking about
Theyre grown men and so called professionals….why it wasnt long ago people were telling us real champions get over things like this, they dont affect them - it brings out their best yada yada yawn
Your constant New Idea type posts in trying to impress others here with so called scoops and tidbits is tedious too..

I can even search terms I used in those posts & find a link - but the posts have been removed!!!

That is 100% truth - check the term "Mr Attention-Seeker: for instance!!!

I don't change back to Jekyll in an instance - I can assure you!!!

What the hell are you on about?
You in the right thread? Making no sense red.

Mate - just assuring you there was no self-censorship on my behalf (mod/admins deleted both of our posts)!!!

I will play nice (as per Watto's request) - because I actually respect you the majority of the time!

I'll go back to writing my column for New Idea!!!

***** self-censored (i.e retracted) ******

Peace Ink - I went off the rails again & I needed return to self-censor on this occasion!!!

It was not overly offensive - but I did promise to play nice!!!

Have a good night at Leichhardt tonight - and I'd be happy to buy you a beer (will PM you my mobile number in case)!!!

Unfortunately this thread went downhill real fast last night. Numerous posts have since been deleted and to the persons who feel it is appropriate to breach forum rules by openly attacking one another with insults, I suggest this:

1\. Use the foe feature if you don't agree with what the other member is posting - Many people use it and it is effective
2\. If not, and you continue to trade insults in this thread or others, mod preview will be considered so the insults do not see the light of day on here.

It is going to be a long season and i understand that many of us do not agree on certain topics, but PLEASE if you do not agree with someone's comments, be constructive. It's quite sad to see grown adults acting like kids on here.

Surprised Tim said that . I have a saying to all the staff at work Leave your problems at the front door before you start and pick them up again when you finish . i don't think Benji was thinking to himself when he was laying some of those those god awful grubbers down last week 'gee i wonder what going to happen at the court case" I agree off field yes But I would of thought that letting his football do the talking would be the right attitude . Why would it affect teams on field performance each player has a role which they are expected to perform every week .If anyone can explain why it would effect on field performance of the team please explain ???
