Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers Coach Paul Fletcher has named his side to play Newcastle Knights in the NSW Cup Preliminary Final on Sunday, September 23.

The match will kick-off at 1pm at Leichhardt Oval as part of a double header. At 3pm, minor premiers Canterbury-Bankstown will play Newtown.

The Tigers go into the match on the back of a strong victory over Wentworthville Magpies in the semi-final at Leichhardt Oval last Sunday. Newcastle had a week off.

The teams have met twice this season with the honours shared.

Fletcher says his team is playing with plenty of confidence after finishing the regular season in eighth place.

“Newcastle is a tough side and it promises to be a good game. They will have a host of NRL players in their side but so did the last two teams we have beaten so I know our boys can handle it,’’ he said.

“One of the key factors over the past fortnight has been the fact we have been able to train all week without any first grade commitments. It has helped enormously."

“The boys are sticking to the game plan and it has been a pleasure to see it unfold the way it has."

Good looking team for Balmain but Newcastle certainly have some first grade experience among their backline. Should be a tough game but hopefully the Leichardt factor comes into play.

Their centres killed us last time so time will tell whether they have rectified that

I think the coach was probably happy with the shift he was forced into with the Hitchcox injury. Davis showed real pace in his stint

Massive ask.

They have a chance though and sometimes that is all you need

Is this televised @ all?
Or the only way to ACTUALLY see it, is be there?

This one wont be on TV, but you will be able to watch them next week playing either the Bulldogs or Newtown in the Grand Final!!!

That Knights team has a lot of big names in it though….
Hot sauce is an international.
