I just think people forget we withstood Manly on our own line in the second half. Manly were lucky to score 3 tries. Apart from those, they didn't even look close to scoring. Our defence was infinitely better than the first round last year. The only team to miss less tackles than us was the Roosters. The only team to concede less line breaks was Parramatta (though a number of teams conceded two). Sure it was worrying that Manly did bash us for a while. The fact is they bashed us for the middle 40 of the game and we withstood it and conceded very little in defence - less than the points conceded suggests imo. We also conceded less metres than any other team than St. George. The difference is that Parramatta had a completion rate of 65% and Manly had a completion rate of 90%. Manly played very very well and we really didn't give them a whole lot. That is a massive, massive change from previous years.
