Dear Lortay…

I owe you an apology...in my ignorance I was blinded by my ignorance....I looked at the fact that you hadn't played Rugby League in 7 years....Not a fan of Union but they say you where the best of the Duel international's....big deal I thought...i didn't like the fact that you where having your final stint in union ....I thought you were all about the $$$$$$$....wrong again....

I wasn't keen that you would just arrive and Waltz straight into First Grade at the expense of a bloke who had been busting their arse since November...how stupid am I...

I actually felt at 1 stage that the contract money they are paying you would be better spent on upgrading others and the retention of Gallant.....the dumbest thought I've ever had....

So this morning...I had the biggest serving of humble pie ever...it was delecious....

Frightening thing is ....Mr Tuqiri...you have only played 3 games for my beloved Wests Tigers....you will only get better.....

i never had a doubt, hes class and you dont just lose it, the way union in the southern hemisphere is played lote was never gonna fulfill his true potential, that why i think the move to leiscter was a bold but smart move as NH union is alot more free flowing and helped him get his groove back.

how awesome has he looked, seriously what a waste of 7 years

Can proudly say I was definitely an advocate for signing him. He has by far exceeded my expectations. Particularly satisfying is the esteem he is already held in by his teammates; listen to Farah in last night's post game interview.One can see why Leicester fought so hard to keep him at the club. He's a dead certainty for state of origin in my opinion.

Scary to think that Niela will be soon.

I don't recall my own thoughts on Tuqiri but I have noticed in the first two weeks of this comp, I tend to agree with you.

On Niela, its easily enough fixed now. Tuiaki to Ryan's Wing, Ryan to Fullback, Moltzen to Half.
 
I was always confident Lote would prove a good buy, but I wasn't prepared for how well he would settle into the Tigers and how much of an impact he would have immediately. 3 games in, scored the first try in 2 of them, 4 tries in 3 games, some strong running displayed, safe under the high ball, a couple of solid hits thrown in, plus he's safe under the high ball.

And his second try last night required serious skill and timing. As Farah said in the post match press conference, there are not too many wingers who would have caught and grounded that ball.

Are you saying the release of Mighty Mouse was a good thing?

It would have been nice to have both Mouse and Lotto, with Mitch back at the swamp.
 
i like union (although being a Force supporter not so much this year!) and lote was a close second to giteau as my favourite wallaby, so i was very excited at the stories about him becoming a tiger and when it came to fruition i was stoked!
i was one of the believers but as i said in another post, i thought he would carve, but cant believe how well he has gone…and so soon too! he also seems to have a great aura about him and how he has bonded with his new teammates has been excellent. you can see they are all genuinely happy when he scores.
the thought of him and tnt in the same team makes me drool! what an awesome pair of hard running wingers we will have. :righton:

I will say that the release of Gallant has no bearing on Wests Tigers now or going forward.

Fringe first grader at best.

Far from it …i think it was a good thing for Shannon.....Happy for Mighty Mouse to get a crack elsewhere for better coin....

I don't think Brown would be on big money....no laundry bills...

Beau Ryan ran for 248m...in his debut at fullback....

I know your a stas man....

When he ran off the field after the game last night and everyone was chanting "Looooottttttteeeeeee, Loooootttteeeee", he was loving life and getting into it and showing all the fans he appreciated the support.

One of the worries you have when you bring a marquee player to a new club is that he mightn't fit into the culture or the environment (ie Ben Hannant) but it's very heart warming to see Lote enjoying his time at the Tigers.
 
I thought Lote would do well, but not this well. I thought he would be similar to the big dell, finish off some good moves, and overall play well, but he's been an absolute gun out there on the wing.
 
Not having a go at anyone but I cannot for the life of me fathom why anybody didn't want to sign someone like Lote Tuqiri. He is an absolute superstar of the game and one of only a few legit players that would attract interest from every club in the world for both Union and League.

The fact that some people actually wanted to see us keep Gallant over this absolute gun still makes me laugh.

I know you have a man crush on him, but you have to face facts. He is nowhere near as good as you like to think he is. Hell, Beau Ryan showed al ot more last night than Gallant did his whole time with us.

I agree. Gallant is a good little player but we are talking about Lote Tuqiri. And Beau Ryan does look a lot better than Gallant at the back so far.
 
I am a keen rugby supporter as well and had unfortunately had the experience of watching lote play club rugby for west harbour as well as his last year in super 14\. He had been awful, and I think I said that lote would be a great marketing signing but might bring nothing football wise to the club.

I was obviously very wrong. He has cast aside any doubts and surpassed what I thought the best result could have been. Good on you lote, and I'm extremely happy to be wrong about this. I'm with Geo in eating a giant serve of humble pie….Keep the good stuff going Lote!
