I can't see what the attraction is with all these Rugby Union players. Very few over the years have made a successful transition to Rugby League. There are far better prospects in the league nurseries and the ESL, imo.

This is blatently untrue. There are heaps of successful rugby players running around. Some of them you probably dont realise are rugby players. Cooper Cronk, Matt Duffie, Conrad Hurrell plus heaps more, not to mention superstars like Price, O'Conner Ricky Stuart and loads more

I hate Tom carter with a passion, he is a tool. I am not an objective judge, I think he is rubbish, but as I said, Im hardly objective.

To add a little balance to the discussion,Carter is the slowere equivalent of Brett Pomeroy of the Sharks…big(for a centre),solid defensively(but often has poor reads ),a committed runner with ball in hand but no real spark in attack & lacking real speed for the centre position.
He has been a longstanding member of the Waratahs & will be a victim of a cleanout at year end.No other Super rugby team wld have any interest in him whatsover.
My guess he'd end up in the 2nr row in NRL,& if you picked him up for under 6 figures he mite be a valuable utility, but unlikely to make the run on 13 in any team.
Rather invest in someone younger & faster

I stand corrected! Didn't realise Cronk and Hurrell were ex-Union. Haven't really seen a lot of Duffie to judge. Knew about the others of course, but they were a long time ago. Still reckon there would be more failures than successes though

I'm assuming, by your comments about Carter, you've encountered him?

Add Ben Kennedy to the list if ex-union guys to have a successful league career.

Yeah I have enocountered him many, many times. A very arrogant individual. Mind you IMO his club Syd Uni encourage the thinking that they are better than others, others prob think he is a top bloke. Many dont.
