Correction..I hate our players lol.
No seriously, it doesn’t take too much to impress me… Just have a go.
Pfft, in the last 100 games or so, I can only recall you being pleased with the team’s effort on 2 occasions.

One of them we didn’t even win.

I still think your scathing criticism of our historic 1 point win against NQ a few years ago was a tad too harsh.

I don’t remember that win. Must have been shit?
We beat the Broncos 48 to nil in Brisbane.

You didn’t overcook it, there was no promise that we’d finally turned the corner, I’ll grant you that much.

Maybe TF was worth a try at 13 this week.Give him some licence, the guys not young but he had a spring in his step.
Joffa is a good tackler ( except within 10 metres of our line) but workmanlike at best. Can barely remember a line break, properly setting up supports etc., or making real yardage. I think his best days are behind him as well.
This I what I mean about a little team experimentation, some won’t work but you never know unless you try.
Just watch Yeo from Penrith, everything you want in a 13. That’s the sort of 13 we need, the perfect link between backs and forwards.

You don't decide what the issues are.
I think @Merlot does.

Pity about Paul Green, very sad and tragic.

I suggested him once as a consultant to Madge.

He had a lot of experience bringing along factory players and reaching optimum.

I don’t suppose money was the issue ( no pun intended). It was said he missed the power and status, things bestowed but can’t be bought.

But Alfie is happy to run the water bottle out. I respect that contribution. Says a bit about a person. He always looks unhappy or angry, but he’s doing his bit. Doesn’t have to be the hero anyone.

I remember Alfie’s hey day, geez he was outstanding. Different era as well.

Yes, I agree @TSP, it is sad and tragic. As it always is in such situations. As for reasons? I think it's disrespectful of him and his family for us to speculate.

Yes, the fall from the top of the mountain.

In many instances, achievement, fame and fortune has not served people well.

It’s not a bad thing to live a quiet life where you contribute without fuss.

You could be correct about "power and status" @TSP.
But it could just as easily be a 'loss of purpose in his life' after losing the Qld coaching job as well as losing the series last year to NSW, particularly if a big majority of his life was in and around footy.

Or it may have been non footy related. Only those closest to him will ever really know.

Yeah, I will concede to you here and retract my submission so far as it applies to Paul. Thanks for the very sensitively and kindly worded correction.

Life is about success and failures in all regards.

He reached the great heights on sheer merit and I think people loved the guy, not his rank in the world.

Being QLD coach means less to me than it used to, because the aura of the thing has been degraded by the rise of our super powered Pacific players and officialdom overreach.

I spoke to a guy today about his relationship with his players towards the end of club career. That was tough era for him.

G'day @TSP..... My apologies re my post.
I certainly didn't intend for it to sound like a correction, but thank you for saying it was kindly worded anyway.
I really enjoy reading your posts as they are always well written, sensible and respectful, no matter who you are replying to.
Keep up the good work (y) :)
