The inaugural Tigers Ball held at Sydney Hilton tonight has seen Leo Nosworthy and Mark O’Neill inducted into the Balmain Tigers Hall of Fame.

Induction into the Hall of Fame is the Balmain Tigers highest individual playing honours. More than 400 people attended the Tigers Ball where past and present players joined officials, sponsors and supporters for a gala evening.

Nosworthy played in Balmain’s 1948 grand final team and later coached Balmain to the 1969 premiership in his first season as first grade coach.

O’Neill played 223 premiership matches from 1994-2005 for Balmain Tigers and Wests Tigers. He was a member of the 2005 premiership winning Wests Tigers team.

"All I ever wanted to do growing up was to play for Balmain Tigers," O'Neill said.

"This is a tremendous honour."

Balmain Tigers Chairman David Trodden said both exemplify the spirit of the Tigers.

“Their names are synonymous with qualities of sportsmanship, courage, integrity and skill which are deeply ingrained within the spirit of the Club,’’ Trodden said.

And deservedly So, A great servant of the club.

I was so happy for him to end of his career in 2005 with a GF win.

congrats to both persons being inducted.
a tremendous honour and acknowledgement for your contribution.

one question, Sid Goodwin, is he any relation to Ted Goodwin?

Sounds a good case. I am sure the football club can overlook the fact he stole from the leagues club. No biggy.

Wow, that was interesting.

I just provided the reason why Kevin Humphreys would not be in the Hall of Fame and the post was removed. He was involved in malpractice with Balmain Leagues and was proven as part of a Royal Commission in 1983\. Not an accusation, it is fact, but yet it was removed. Very interesting….

Awesome news… Buckets is the first Wests Tigers player to be inducted!

I wonder if someone like John Skandallis or Bret Hodgson can still qualify even though they started as Magpies before coming Tigers ???

They would be part of the Western Suburbs Hall of Fame which I understand Wests Tigers is also involved.

Eventually we will have a Wests Tigers Hall of Fame.

Which I hope all players who are currently members of the Tigers and Magpies Halls of Fame are included into also . We are one club now .

I dont know about that one happy… I think Wests Tigers are 1 club, but Western Suburbs Magpies and Balmain Tigers are still individual Clubs with a long history and deservant of thier own Hall of Fame.

I dont see any relevance why inductees in either the Wests or Balmain should one day become members of the Wests Tigers Hall of Fame (once formed) unless they have made a contribution to the Wests Tigers.

Just a quick one, how do you guys feel about long serving players who left the club and played against the Tigers being named in the hall of fame?

Tim Brasher for example, one of my favorite players but he chased the dollars at Souths, and delighted in playing in teams that beat us on several occasions.

What about Scott Prince, would you like to see him honored like this?

Just a thought, I welcome your opinion.

You cant have players that have never played for the club in that clubs hall of fame…..
Its like saying we have 17 premierships like saints Illa do....its stretching it.
