I’m genuinely baffled people can support Putin/Russia in this. He invaded his neighbour with zero real provocation. Whatever Zalensky’s supposed faults may be, he seems to be doing whatever he can to stop his country disappearing.

In fairness Putin did have some agitation with the missiles on the doorstep think but he has over reacted. Which is a big part of russian culture, 'Glory to tha nation' etc.

As someone in the thick of it atm (check IP) please be very weary of russian talking points and propaganda.

Zelensky pocketing the money for himself is unrealistic. Like that could happen. He would be replaced if he did that.
Russian media likes to point to when he buys a house (remember he was rich before power and he is jewish so he already had money) and sow seeds of doubt by saying he is using American money. It is infowars.

Whilst I don’t support Israel in it's current iteration, the Jewish bit was unnecessary and has nothing to do with Zelensky having money. He was brought up in a crowded small soviet era apartment with 3 generations from both sides of his family.

In agreement, particularly regarding disinformation, this man stayed to serve his country when offered asylum (I need weapons, not a ride), putting himself in further danger by going out in the streets in the early days of the full invasion at risk from agents of the "Killer In The Kremlin" (a good read about Putin), who executes his political rivals at home and abroad.

Not only that, instead of sitting at the end of long tables and using body doubles at fake public events, Zelensky has visited and awarded his forces within a few kilometres of some of the most vicious battles a number of times. A true leader often wrongly attacked by gullible people.

I can't work out if Zelensky has got really big balls or if he has just ballsed the whole thing up.

Some good arguments on both sides of that but which ever side you may support you cannot deny the shameful loss of life and destruction that has occurred that will take a generation or longer to repair.

I only intended for this thread to be about footy, but if my country was at war with a much larger country I would sure hope our leader was doing their best to seek as many arms from donor countries as possible and it would be weird to call them a bludger for doing that.
with pure intentions indeed ,RLR magazine (oct -nov edition) has the Ukraine, defeating Czech Republic -Oct 18 2024,your article states nations will qualify over the week. Seeking your help here on how that ,who qualified from that tournament to face Cook Islands etc, before the next RLR feb march 25 ,or fall down a google rabbit hole.Did Ukraine advance ?

And for what Hank? This loss of life? Well said.

For the fever dream of the imperialist authoritarian Putin in his want to again expand soviet influence.

See the image of Grozny, Chechnya in 1999 below, which was taken in the few months he and his oligarchs controlled their first president, Yeltsin, their puppet before he was forced to resign on NYE. Looks familiar doesn't it.

As I type, people are on the streets of Tbilisi, Georgia, protesting against another dodgy election of a Putin/oligarch puppet government. Meanwhile, Ukrainian soldiers have been fighting on the battle fields against Putin's army for more than a decade, including the 2022 full invasion that came across the border of yet another bullied puppet, the weaker authoritarian president's country of Belarus.

Zelensky, like you and I, is not perfect, but the blame for the continued suffering of the Ukrainian league team and their country, lays at the feet of Putin and his enablers.

Putin didn't start the fire. And let's not mention Greenland.
