Not a good idea because the NFL have no opposition during their football season and it is the dominant code,here we are in competition with afl and to a very minor extent rugby union.We need to keep our product on display for as long as we do now to remain the dominant code in NSW and Qld and shortening the season will give up our position

The revenue received from the broadcasters would reduce significantly if you cut the amount of games, which would mean less NRL grants to clubs and less money to players etc

NFL also have a massive college game to carry the load.

I personally like the longer season as more footy to watch.

Also like the way SOO is played and no club games stopped. This evens the comp out a little for lower clubs with no SOO players.

With all due respect, it's a terrible idea. I shudder to think the hit on revenue if we are reducing each teams games played from 24 down to 16. We need more money coming into the game, not less.

That aside they wouldn't be able to do it until the next TV rights deal anyway.
