(from Western Suburbs Magpies f/b group)
Sadly, another Magpie great is no more:
Western Suburbs Magpies are saddened to advise that 1964-71 Magpie Roy Ferguson passed away in the early hours of this morning, after fighting an incredibly brave battle with Dementia over the past few years. He was 77.
Roy came down from Wyong on the Central Coast to play for our Club in 1964 before going on to play 159 games including 114 in First Grade. He scored 33 tries and a couple of goals in all grades.
Roy was signed by St George in 1972 and went on to play over 100 First Grade games for the Dragons which gave him the distinction of being the first player to play 100 First Grade games for two clubs.
Roy was considered one of the best players for the Dragons in the 1975 Grand Final against Eastern Suburbs.
Funeral Service details will be provided as soon as they become available.
