Very flat backline

Something i Have noticed this year is how flat we our back line is
It's not set deep like it was of years gone by and as a result our backs have no room and no time to do anything
Is this maybe the coach ? as it doesn't seen to matter who has been playing in the halves , in my opinion the backs are not deep enough and they are not getting the ball at pace either
Don't we miss Ellis out on our edges ! In attack and defence

Agreed, nothing seems to be working like clockwork anymore. 1st half versus eels it was and it has been in years gone by and it does in other good clubs. Everything we do is just disjointed, people catch balls not meant for them and backs catch the ball with no momentum then run 4 metres into some forwards who are waiting for them.

Also, haven't seen this anywhere else but last night i saw backs taking a LARGE amount of hitups (even reddy!?)

yep, the forwards for the most part appear to be going ok, but the backline and our general attack is really dead. Poor options, trying to score off every set just zero patience with the ball, which we hand over on a regular basis early in tackles a lot of the time, giving the opposition more ball than necessary.

Another note, in about round 6 we were recorded as the worst team in metres conceded. Around 12 or 13 for gained which is somewhat passable.

Have a suspicion that most of those metres conceded are coming from the left edge…teams always pick up 20m if they run it there.

Definitely need some more go forward though, one great toiler prop. PLEASE WT management! dont screw this one up too and pay 700k for george rose or dave taylor....

When your main backline creator couldn't organise a root in a brothel and everything is ad lib you cannot have your backline set ready to play. When they have been we have seen Benji skip 40 metres across field and hand it off to some poor sod rushing up to support him only for said player to get smashed
