Jason Taylor is expected to be announced as Wests Tigers coach as early as Monday afternoon.
It is understood the Wests Tigers players will be informed of the appointment at a 4pm meeting at Concord Oval. The club is also expected to announce a new general manager of football on Monday.
The former Western Suburbs halfback is expected to return as a head coach for the first time since being sacked by the Rabbitohs at the end of 2009\. Fairfax Media understands Taylor beat a host of candidates including Anthony Griffin, Nathan Brown, David Kidwell and Todd Payten to replace Mick Potter as coach of the club next season. All five candidates were interviewed last week in front of members of the club's new-look board.

After coaching Parramatta and South Sydney, Taylor has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach of the Roosters. Taylor, who played 86 top grade games for the Magpies before stints with North Sydney, Northern Eagles and Parramatta, went close to returning to the Eels as head coach this year before a late backflip by the club led to Brad Arthur being installed as coach.
Taylor oversaw South Sydney's return to finals in 2007.
Potter's two-year deal stint was engulfed with off-field woes, while on the field the side struggled with an array of injuries.

I just hope he was chosen for the right reasons and not because he agreed to a certain salary..

Taylor was my 2nd choice..never rated Brown or Payten and our "mate" Parish didn't even get to first base!..haha

Griffin would've been interesting…

Boy I can see Taylor and Farah clashing heads already!...both have similar stoic personalities.

I'm really interested now to see who the new football operations manager might be anyone heard of any names being thrown around?

brown was clearly the best candidate, but in typical Wests Tigers fashion, we've opted to go with the second best option available.

How has this info even got into the media. Jerry Seinfeld here would have us all believe that Emperor Mayer has "fixed" the issue of leaks from the boardroom.

Or is this Farah's fault as well Jerry?

well that is a shock to me I would have thought griffin or brown, but lets get right behind him and give our whole hearted support like all west tigers will. congratulations Jason Taylor lets hope you turn into a super coach and take us to many premierships. I am thinking smith may be our football manager

Thats the biggest worry in all of this news…the leak is still there.sheez!!..obviously it wasn't Potter!

Hmmmm. If true, welcome to the Wests Tigers Mr. Taylor. Hope you bring success and a winning culture to our club. :sign:

Taylor will be an excellent mentor for Brooks and Mosses….he was a very smart halfback in his day.!

Ricky Stuart was an even smarter halfback.

Look what he does to halfbacks.

I'm not saying that Taylor will be bad, rather that you shouldn't just blindly make that assumption.

Not unhappy with him, he's certainly a strong character and wont cop crap from players. I hope the managament are 100% behind him and it stays that way.

Im undecided on Taylor. I think there's two reasons we went with him:

1) Former halfback to help guide Brooks & Moses.

2) Paul Green had great success at the Cowboys this year after assisting Robinson at the Roosters. Maybe the Board think Taylor can do the same here.

Could have been from Taylors current side. I'm sure he would have informed them.

I think track records speak volumes in this instance.

If the players and supporters don't completely back this fellow as Head Coach we are cutting our own throats. I hope everyone has learnt from the mistakes of the past year. The only way to go is up and onwards.
