27/05/2010 4:22:14 PM
Wests Tigers congratulate its latest celebrity supporter in Dave Winchester in winning on the IBA World Bodyboarding Tour this week.
A die hard Wests Tigers supporter, Winchester finished second in the world last year and won a World Tour event – Africa Chilean Challenge - in Chile in big surf last Sunday.
Whilst on tour, Winchester keeps up with the team’s results and news through this official Wests Tigers website. His favourite player is captain Robbie Farah.
“When I’m home I love to go out and watch the Wests Tigers play,’’ he said.
“I have been following the Tigers since Balmain days and remember going out to Leichhardt Oval as a kid and watching on from the hill.
“I can’t wait to get home and watch them run around again. I’m hoping that this year is not only ‘The Year of the Tiger’ but also the ‘year of Dave Winchester’.”
Winchester joins the likes of swimming legend Dawn Fraser, Socceroo Mark Schwarzer, the 'Blue Wiggle' Anthony Field, rock legend Jimmy Barnes, boxing champion Daniel Geale, Olympic snowboarder Ben Mates, Olympic ice skater Cheltzie Lee and American baseball pitcher Dave Balfour as proud Wests Tigers supporters.
