What is the one line in any song

that strikes a chord, every time you hear it?

I am too young to have fought in the Vietnam war, (or any war, thankfully), yet this iconic line from "I was only 19" has to be one of the most touching I ever heard:
" And Frankie kicked a mine the day that mankind kicked the moon
God help me - he was goin' home in June".

Never underestimate the power of language and music.

There are so many. Off the top of my head, a verse from I Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart by Cornell

When you came along, the time was right
Pulled me like an apple, red and ripe
Wasn't very long, you took a bite
And did me wrong, and it serves me right

Also, if you have never listened to Say Hello to Heaven, there is a chord inside your soul that has not been struck.

The sky was your playground, but the cold ground was your bed

No GNR quote mate

Chuck Berry was a lyric genius.
I think Memphis Tennessee is a pretty good example of his talent and then the last verse you find out it’s his kid. The line in bold “hurry-home drops” for tears is just Chuck Berry genius. And he has so many other songs that just paint a picture.

Last time I saw Marie, she was waving me goodbye
With hurry-home drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye
Marie is only six years old, information, please
Try to put me through to her in Memphis, Tennessee

I have sat down and had beers with guys who were serving in Vietnam and responded (Sappers) when that happened. It gets me too.

I served in Iraq at one point and Beccy Cole wrote the song Poster Girl (Wrong Side of the World) after her return from doing a "Tour de Force" gig. I know the Brigadier she mentions in the song and the story she portrays. Brings me to tears when I hear it as it takes me back there and the memories come flooding in.
