What we need is a first grade coach ..
One that has former experience playing in the halves .
Maybe one that has played 273 first grade games
One that has even played 4 games of SOO , so he can mentor our halves …

Is there anybody out there ?????

Mark Murray wasn't a real good coach Hobbo :crazy

I think you've stayed to long in the Frozen section

one person isn't gonna change much. if anything, we would turn beau scott or JWH into a little baby.
gareth ellis simply played the way he always did, he didn't change our culture. our defense was still like a wet paper bag during our "glory days" of '11/'12.

Disagree. Ellis had a massive influence on the team - just ask any of the players from that era.
Our defence was markedly better during 10/11, which is testament to the subtle changes to the squad, as well as Steve Folkes work.

a winning culture.

This might be the stupidest thread you've ever seen but I reckon we need to form a winning culture. You can either do that by importing ruthless characters who would go out and give it all on the field or you can form that culture yourself. Everyone agrees that we lack experience but I don't want to form a spine which has a <50% success rate.

Doing the hard yards now, doing the right things at training etc is all very important but none of it means anything if we don't bring that to the paddock. Train as hard as you like throughout the week but focus on your strength on the field, on the field you're there for one thing and one thing only.. that is to win. Doesn't matter how you do it, either individually, listening to the coach or doing the little things like kick n chase.

We need to form this win at all costs attitude.

Tig,

I believe what you are alluding to is a culture of maturity, stability and balance off the field. no chest pumping, no bravado, no standing over players, no nonsense. Being stable individuals living healthy fulfilled lives because all that you do in life will inevitably permeate to the way you play football. How do you talk to your friends? how early do turn up to training? what are you doing to give back to the community? who do these guys spend their times with away from football?

I spoke a little about this with Moltz when my mate was cutting his hair for his wedding and we were chilling out. It seemed all of the above was missing when he was playing with us (not blaming him as he is a top bloke).

Ellis was an aggressive and good defender but we also had a number of other good defenders back then - Giibbs, Fulton, Heighington, Farah and Payten.
