What Wests Tigers players have you bumped into in public?

As the title suggests, what Wests Tigers player, past or present have you randomly bumped into in public?

Maybe you saw Jarrod McCracken in the waiting room at your local chiro? Perhaps you saw Liam Fulton at the barber?

I'll go first, about a month ago I saw Luke Laulilii walking a few streets away from where I live.

Give us your best sighting!

I have a couple. I ran into Terry Hill (RIP) at a cafe once. Only weeks earlier he was ruled out for us against Panthers with a groin injury. I was sitting next to the players tunnel at Panthers stadium. When the teams ran out onto the field here comes big Tez. Instead of using the steps to get to his seat he climbed over multiple rows of chairs. I thought if he can climb over seats then his groin isn’t that bad. I was furious so I gave Terry a few words of advice. He glared at me and I have no doubt he wanted to deal with me. Move forward a few weeks and as I walked into the cafe he looked at me and I have no doubt he knew I was the mouthy bloke from Panthers stadium. I wished him luck for the up coming game and went on my way. I ran into David Gillespie at reactor 1 night club once. He was a champion fella and brought my mate and I a beer and had a 5 minute chat with us. Not sure if he was married back then but big Cement certainly attracted some attention from some attractive ladies. My favourite one was Anthony Mundine he was getting his haircut and spoke with everyone who said hello to him. Seemed like a genuinely nice bloke. The barber told me that Choc would play basketball or touch footy with teenagers doing it tough around Redfern.

Robbie Farah at a Cafe around the corner from where I live. He had no hesitation to get a quick snap with me.

Bumped into Liam Fulton a few years ago in Byron, he was a complete knob. On the other hand bumped into Tedesco a couple of years later in Brissy. He was seemed like a very humble bloke.

I went down to Dendrobium coal mine in Wollongong for some work and Bryce Gibbs was there all kitted up ready to go ug

I'm guessing that's his life now footy is over

Quite a few years ago now though

Had a chat with Robbie Farah at the kids soccer a few years ago, seemed a polite guy.

Alex Twal took us on our Members Tour of the CoE, he's a funny dude, really upbeat. Don't suppose the CoE counts as "in public".

Not Wests but I bumped into Blocker a few times as a kid via my uncle, Block is a really good bloke who would make the effort to talk to the kids.

If anyone remembers Marty Masella from Balmain he cleaned my house, runs a cleaning business.

Had a good old chat with Tim Brasher at a Souths corporate do once, of all places.

If non-club I see footballers around all the time, I seem to have a pretty keen eye for recognising them. Just the other week Mikaele Ravalawa was at Albion Park zone bowling. I live down South now and see Dragons players out and about often enough.

Many years ago I ran into Wests Magpies legend Jason Lidden out at a nightclub during his playing days (offseason). He was many drinks into his night and was the life of the party and living up to his drinking reputation. Gave me the scoop that Cherry Mescia who was in the prior year U21 premiership winning team was applying pressure on Joey Thomas for the first grade team.

Not a current Wests Tigers player but bumped into Luke Garner in Kingscliff over the Christmas Holidays.

Blocker and Siro were absolute legends to me and my mates growing up. They couldn’t do enough. Shake your hand, talk to you, introduce you to other teammates, autographs, etc. it really made us all love and want to support Balmain.
