Young Forwards

I'm a big fan of our young forwards, Woods, Dwyer and FIfita. I think on the weekend at stages the weekly grind of NRL is starting to blunt them, I reckon it is time to freshen them up by reducing their work load. They are not advanced enough in their development to do the role they are being asked of due to our massive injury toll, week in week out.
We run the risk of running them into the ground if we ask them to keep doing this.

I think signs are showing already, about 10 into the second half the roosters started making good ground through the middle and the young guys started dropping off tackles, this has not happened in the previous rounds.

Im not sure how we can freshen them up tho??

Couple of different ways I think Goose . Within 3 weeks we will have Fulton and Ellis back . That will solve issues . Run a 4 man forward bench is another option in the meantime . Mix up starters IE Woods start 1 week and Fifita the next Big one Don't try and make Dwyer 80 minute player he not up to it yet . Look at Sam Thaiday as an example he was in grade 4 years before he started playing 80 minutes and gradually had time amped up .Dwyer has to LEARN to become an 80 minute player first

Whilst disappointing at times, I'm still impressed with how they have been able to handle the top grade after so few games. It says alot

Agree 100%, I just dont want to ruin them by doing too much to early.

Agree 100% HT with all those solutions, Dwyer is not ready for a week in week out 80 minute performer, as you said it takes years for most players to get to that point.

We need to be careful how we manage them between now and when we get the others back. Gibbs back with a run under his belt will help take a bit of pressure off, and I think we are going to have to get a bit extra from Payten until Ellis and Fulton return.

I think we all agree and I am fairly sure Sheens does too - as he is usually really great with this as shown by Fifita last year only playing some games and at times being given a rest - but at the moment we don't have other options

fifita is amazing when he doesnt run straight… it sounds stupid, but hes better off crabbing across field and palming a few off before flicking it onto someone else... he creates attacking opportunities.

Yesterday he didn't create anything and it was his worst game of the season so far. When a team is defending well and comes up in a straight line like the Roosters did, he was an easy picking. His straight running against the Raiders was much more effective.

exactly right Willow our attack yesterday was too much crabbing sideways players beating 4 players to make 3 metres We are so effective when we play direct and then spin the ball Little evidence of that yesterday .

As a team we play better direct - ofcourse. Although I don't think you can deny that Fifita creates opportunities when he 'crabs' and palms off defenders, sucking them in, then when the space creates itself, we have a player hitting the hole at speed.

It works when the team is going forward and has support players in action. Unfortunately last week was one of those games where anything the Tigers tried invariably failed to come off.
