Young Guns - Who will stand up?

For those that get to see the young guns play, who do you think will stand up next season?
I don't get to see any other than first grade play :frowning:
I like Sitaleki, I know very little of the NYC or NSW Cup

I think Sitaleki could be anything.

I like Watson Heleta who is a centre.

I have quiet hopes for Santi this year too, he may be our 80 minute back rower with a high and quality work rate we need.

You would have seen Lodge, but I think he is an outstanding prospect. Better than Woods

Depends who gets a run

Manaia Cherrington , Santi , Lamar Liolevave , Te Maire Martin , Matthew Woods , Marion Seve and Milone would be the guys I'd be keeping an eye out for 2015

I don't think 2015 is a year where a lot if young guys will come through. 2016 I'd expect heleta, Seve, Martin, funaki, lamar, m.woods to begin coming through.

As mentioned Hopefully guys like akauloa, lodge, Moses etc can become established first graders. Nofo, teddy, brooks etc continue to improve and sironen looks at home in the second row

I hope they all stand up.

I would like Santi, Lodge and Sue all stand up this year. I don't think Lodge will need any encouragement though, he looks raring to go. Liolevave looks to be a good prospect, don't know if he'll see much FG though. May do if we see some injuries.

I'm hoping for big things from Sue next season - he has had a taste of international football in the world cup and four nations. Some hard work in the off season and I can see him becoming a real enforcer for the side - he hits hard and never takes a step back.

You would have to think that with quite a few games under their belts. and the confidence that brings that quite a few of our boys that debuted last year should kick on.

Not forgetting a full off season under their belts.

Akoula,Sue,Santi.Lodge,Moses.Brooks,Siro and Big Ava should hopefully all kick on this year…and dont forget we spent huge chunks of the season without Robbie,Teddy and Simona!!

Everyone is all doom and gloom but I am most excited about this year.....our kids got a taste last year.....hopefully this year they will blossom!

well santi reminds me of mark o'neill he will be good ,martin still very young but he makes things happen could be any thing in time ,dallas graham ,m woods ,funaki, seve ,lioevave, cherrington .ok now its up to our new coaching staff to bring these blokes on to be nrl 1st graders ,I think we would be dreaming to hope they all make it good luck to one and all .

Depends what you call a young gun. A rookie? Or someone under the age of 24?

Sue while still young, and a gun, can't really be grouped with the kids anymore. He's played 40 NRL games and 10 internationals. He's got some experience and is ready to now become a very good first grader. Likewise I'll leave out Teddy, Brooks, Moses and Sirro from this one, but all have breakthrough seasons.

Of the rookies, ie those who haven't played more than a handful of NRL games i think Liolevave will play 5-10 NRL games next season, Cherrington will play 3-4 to cover for robbie, Seve could play anywhere from 5-20 games this season too.

There's Lodge but he'll play the whole season. He's like a younger and bigger version of Gallen. An absolute beast.

Santi will probably play a lot of games too. I see him as our replacement for Fulton and even though he may not start the season in the back row i'm confident he'll end the season starting in the back row.

Martin should also play at least 3-4 games this season as well, even if off the bench. He needs that taste to help him acclimatise to the step up in quality.

Im pumped to see Cherrington when Robbie plays NSW…..this usually would be our worst time, bit this kid is greased lightning out of dummy half.

Obviously I am a huge Lodge fan…how he got released by the Storm I do not know and what a pick up for us....absolute gun front rower.

My only concern is with his hands...aside from that WOW.....when he plays at under 20's for us and reps he looks like he is an 19 year old playing against 16 year olds.

Huge prospect........

He got released on disciplinary grounds didn't he?

Could be anyone really. I maintain that last year none of the players had a bad year individually apart from maybe Simona and Lawrence.

I don't think this year is all doom and gloom- people may disagree but our squad has enormous potential regardless of experience. The pressure is solely on JT and his staff IMO.

Santi I'm hoping is a revelation. We know he has potential and we need him in that position more than anyone- I'm hoping Siro does too.

If we're excluding those that will obviously start next year and have played more than say 5 games:

Santi looks like a real standout for 2015

I think cherrington could be a little overated, he'll take another couple of years to really become first grade ready. He's got a tonne of potential though, perhaps the most of any hooker in the NRL under 20\. Hopefully will play off the bench for 20-40minutes during origin to give him a bit of a taste/experience.

Big Ava to keep on his upward trend and really establish himself as an NRL-level prop next year.
Lodge to start at lock and stay there all year, in our top 3 performers for the season.
Nofo to come off a full pre-season healthy and stronger then ever, having a year to match Mansour.
Sirro and Akauola to realise how big they are and start terrorising halves out wide.

My big hope is Sue though, I really want him to live up to his potential. In the team context he's been around for a while now, and he has to step up.

I am leaning for Sirro to have a big year. He played alot of 2nd row last year and alot of minutes without a pre-season after coming back injured. He now has a whole pre-season to work on his game and build up his stamina for that position.
Moses will be rocks and diamonds….brilliant and terrible while he learns to play with patience and know when to bring the tricks out.
I think the smokey could be Lamar Liolevave - big guy, good motor, could be similar to Tepai Moeroa at the Eels who came from no-where and then was a machine. I have high hopes for this kid.
