No-one’s calling the Wests Tigers soft now.

After four straight victories built on a strong work ethic, with little of the flash for which they are renowned, the Tigers are suddenly back in premiership contention.

The winning run has muffled talk the joint venture club wasn’t physically up to the challenge.

That dig was aimed at the Tigers forwards after the pre-season competition favourites dropped five of their first six games.

“Our big men were copping flak at the start of the year about being a little bit soft,” utility star Tom Humble said on Tuesday.

"When anyone hears the (name) Wests Tigers they think flashy ball playing and trick shots and not really the grinding and tough defence and the grinding wins.
