Beau’s loss is a massive blow to the Tigers brand. I work for a media buying agency and I reckon conservatively that Beau gives the Tiges $500K in like media value, PR coverage and positive contribution to the Tigers brand equity every year . When you add up his exposure (in minutes alone) he gets on the solid rating Footy show, his mentions in print and radio, his popularity on social media (such as combined YouTube hits) and importantly his popularity with a broad range of football consumers from kids to mums to die-hard fans. He’s even created his own Doggies “meme” which is known by thousands of fans. Love him or hate him he’s a fantastic brand asset in some respects more valuable off the field than on…. On top of that you can’t put a price on Beau’s passion and commitment for the Tiges.

How much does not making finals football cost the club? More then 500k mate.

Beau is an average footballer who’s media profile has saved his ass from the chopping block for long enough.

Agreed, Tigers failure to make Beau’s contract a priority has cost us a player. But losing him isn’t the end of the world.

He along with other players arethe reason, my point was making the finals is more important then beaus face on tv. The dead weight needs to be cut, he is part of that. He is an average player along with heigno along with ayshford.

People who were happy with any of those 3 form the last few years have low expectations and are happy with the average/mediocrity that has been served up all to often.

When nofuloma Simona and the like get the shots they deserve you will be wondering what the fuss was about

I’ve often wondered why a club like the Sharks wouldn’t chase someone like Beau. The media exposure for a lesser club would be invaluable.

And for those loving beau, I’d be surprised if there is another back in the nrl who played every game and didn’t manage a line break like beau did this year

And yet was arguably our best back. Says a lot more about the team then it does about Beau.

Yep, missing the finals will cost us much more than $500K. I don’t think you can lay the blame at Beau’s feet for that one, he was one of our more consistent players all year. We’re all really disappointed about how the team didn’t deliver this year, but the point was more about the value of players (in this case Beau) beyond the 80 they turn in each week. I agree that we need a seriously hard look at both coaching and players but the cost long term cost is equally important to the short term gain. How management decided to keep Lote over Beau is beyond me for so many reasons it’s not funny…

Our best back was utai and koribete showed more in 6 games then beau did in 24.

You may be well placed for “scoops” SG, but your ability to judge the game is lacking. Whatever you think about his overall ability, Beau was not the dead weight keeping us out of finals this year.

On raw stats Benji was our best back by a mile, lead the comp in try assists and line break assists. People are only saying Beau was our best back on the basis of the players performance comparative to their ability
