Tigers’ Farah, Benji unstoppable: Toovey
Joe Barton AAP Wed, Mar 27, 2013 - 5:40 PM
When Wests Tigers pair Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah choose to flick the switch, Manly coach Geoff Toovey says there’s no one in the NRL who can go with them. That’s why, despite owning one of the best defensive records in the competition over the first three rounds, Toovey says he doesn’t have any idea how to stop the fearsome twosome.
The Sea Eagles have the third best defence heading into round four, having conceded just 30 points to date - behind Gold Coast (26 points) and Cronulla (28).
But that counts for nothing when it comes to facing the baffling brilliance of Marshall and Farah according to Toovey.
When asked the best way to stop them when they’re on song, Toovey replied: "You can’t.
"… you’ve just got to know the game plan and know your opposition and do your best.
"I’m sure they’ll probably score a few points and we just need to keep it to a minimum and be able to score a few more than them.
“… But trying to stop them both is very difficult,” Toovey said.
The two sides have enjoyed some heated contests in recent years, including a spiteful clash in 2010 when Manly centre Steve Matai was sin-binned for a shot on Tigers skipper Farah.
New Tigers coach Mick Potter is yet to experience the fireworks produced by these two outfits but says the same can be expected on Thursday - after giving the players a light run in the leadup to the Bluetongue Stadium clash.
“We’ve had a short week so we haven’t been too physical with each other as yet … I’m leaving that to match day,” he said.
"Every game that you play is physical, strong and aggressive.
“I would imagine this would be no different.”
Manly slumped to their first loss of the season last round, a 16-14 nailbiter to the Titans, but Potter wasn’t expecting to find too many chinks in the maroon and white armour.
“I don’t think there’s anything lost from Manly,” he said.
"They’ve got plenty of strike and they showed that (in) how they came back in the second half.
“There’s plenty in them. They’re going to be difficult to stop.”

Lol thinly veiled mind games.
-
too funny Tooves - reverse psychology
what do you take us for?
for that alone we should smash Manly & make Toovey eat his words.
It’s an insult.

I agree with Toovey.Farah and Bunji are aewsome players and are very hard to stop.
Smartest thing he has ever said.
-
Where is Adam MacDougall when you need him? Toovey is overdue for another stomp on the head
-

Tooveys pulled the wool over your eyes. -

Staying under the radar takes years of practice.

Straight from the Warren Ryan playbook
"we shouldn’t even show up ,we’ll be bringing the dying and the wounded to fill the side "
He use to piss in the pocket of the Courier Mail reporters and the Brisbane fans and players would lap it up
-
We’ll see tonight Toovey, if Farah & Benji are so unstoppable.
