What a pathetic, limp-wristed decision by the judiciary to downgrade Richie Fa’aoso’s suspension from 4 weeks to 1. He comes up with an illegal tackle that knocks Ashley Harrison out and causes him to miss the rest of the game, severely affecting his team on the day and also means Harrison can’t play again this weekend (so in effect the tackle causes Harrison to miss 1 and a half games).
Fa’aoso is the bloke in the wrong and he misses just one game, where the bloody hell is the justice in that? Or the deterrent for the next player thinking of doing the same thing?
I know the injury was caused by an accidental head-clash but the head-clash was caused by an illegal tackle in the first place. The NRL have really backed themselves into a corner when the next player goes up on the same charge - his defence team will just bring up the Fa’aoso tackle and subsequent punishment as a precedent.
It was a ridiculous decision by the NRL to ban the shoulder-charge in the first place and this case just goes to prove that they will have absolutely no idea how to punish players that continue to tackle in this way. Fair dinkum, the NRL heirachy make the Keystone Cops look like geniuses. Weak as water
