I mention it almost every week.

Why in the f$@k does Marshall always do this???

It’s been 6 mins against Manly and he’s done it twice, to absolutely no avail.

He’s probably had success with it once or twice since he started doing it last season. Just stop it already!!! :deadhorse:

It’s not about having it come off successfully.
Its a psychological tactic of putting the defence in two minds.

Great psychology when nothing eventuates from that play every week. I don’t see tafua second guessing himself nor does Benji take advantage off it later in the game?!

The opposition winger just continues their job and better still, gets free possession every time it happens

I think the first one, second tackle I think was smart. Malny are grinders and we start the defensive set on their line, backed up by the lack of metres they made.

Second time I fully agree, he takes too many long percentage options when way out of range.

If it doesn’t work, you wait until you think they’ve forgotten about it and try again

Or any other numerous use of it.

But seriously, does Marshall take advantage of it later in the game? Ie. does he hold the defense up, confuse their winger and put our winger away for a try?

Nope. I can’t remember Marshall ever taking advantage of it.

                  laughable
what about the 30 odd tries he laid on last year, many of which were from kicks behind advancing wingers. Also by putting the kick in behind the line it prevents them from rushing up which allows us to take advantage of over laps and alike. it serves a purpose and we take advantage of it all the time.
I do believe he over play it

I think we will see alot More try’s scored of those type of kicks in behind the line , by all teams especially with the obstruction rule the way it is

…probaly a rehearsed play but he’s forgotten Koroibete-be-good wasn’t playing, might come in handy later in the season.Tiges could have won that game in the first 20 minutes, won’t get too many chances like that against the top 4 Teams again this year you would think.
